Definitely gonna be a bit sad if we do manage to pull off the premiership and Pav isn't up there making the speech.
Overall a pretty good decision by the great man, we have so many players who can stand up to be captain which makes it hard to predict who is next.
Fyfe obviously the standout but there are definitely question marks on whether he is ready, definitely excited to see the first presser for whoever is picked to represent our team.

As much as I think Fyfe will be a great captain of the club one day, I don't think it's time just yet. Barlow or Mundy to captain, Sonny vice-captain and Fyfe elevated to the leadership group. Then Fyfe and Sonny to ring in a new era of dominance...

Fyfe's already in the leadership group.

I still think it's going to be Fyfe. I think Mundy's almost too old now, and Fyfe will benefit & be able to mature into the role by having Pav around for the year.

$10 says the first thing the captain does is walk over and hand it to Pav :)
Or calls him over to lift it with him, like Judd did with Cousins.

Except not at all like that otherwise.

Yeah thinking about it that was the best alternative name that I could think of.

Who is in the current leadership group?

2015 Leadership group.

Ahh, so the profiles of potential captains on the club site are just the remainder of the 2015 leadership group (minus Pav and Lukey Mac). I remember reading an article last year saying a number of others (MB and Sonny IIR?) got votes also, so it could be from beyond the four they've profiled...

Sad news to hear my buddy is handing over the reigns but definitely an incredibly selfless decision from the great man with the best interests of the club at heart first and foremost, as always. What a pleasure it has been to watch the Pav almost single-handedly drag our club from obscurity and mediocrity to relative success and a new era of professionalism over the course of his 9 years at the helm.

Has definitely made the right call, he can now help to mould the future leaders of the club while allowing himself the time and space to focus on getting his body right and maintaining his incredibly high standards on and off the field, and of course he shall remain the spiritual leader of the club until he hangs up his boots. Once again, and as always, all class Pav.

Mundy to captain in 2016.
Nice work :):):thumbsu:

Fyfe is in the leadership group and is in fact already vice captain.

Didn't Pav become Captain at 25? Fyfe is 24.

However, I think fyfe needs another year just concentrating on playing. Wouldn't mind Son son though.

I have had a vision and when we win the cup, Fyfe and Ross come up and lift the cup. Then Ross waves Pav over, steps aside and we have the current captain and the spiritual leader of the club holding it aloft.

Sticky that guys...

Is this fly hit or still trying to get him?

If this happens, I will cry. Big bawling tears, like when Elvis retired.

I'm torn about Fyfe becoming captain. I want him to continue being our best player and growing his game for a few more years, as VC, leading from the front but not quite as sequestered away from his teammates in the bubble of captaincy just yet. I think I'm leaning towards Mundy as an interim captain then Fyfe to be our next long-term captain.

Exciting times! It's awesome that we are so spoiled for choice for captain that we can't unanimously agree with who will take over next year. It says a lot about the strong culture of leadership and accountability at the club currently. The future so bright... Gotta wear shades. :) ;)

God I love this man. Sad news but I felt it was coming. I so hope we can finally win the flag for him and to see him standing up there holding the cup. Please make this the year. FOR PAV.

I can't see anyone other than Fyfe as our next captain surely.
