I'm wondering if JHF didn't go as hard as he normally would last week with SANFL finals approaching?

Watching the match I felt like he was being 'the captain' more than 'the player' - he won't have been captain in the seniors so this would have been the first time for a while he has been 'the man'.So maybe he was just underwhelmed last week and isn’t used to that type of level?

I think the experts have put it down to a quiet game - albeit with bursts of quality - and that is the end of the story.
No damage done to his number 1 chances and hence he is coming to us.
All that said I think we all would like SA to play WA in the under 19's again during GF week - and for JHF to dominate - just to make sure any doubt is removed.
Pretty much this. He has enormous potential on top of what he has already shown. I can see him play forward pocket all next year.If they play again, I don’t think it will change anything if he doesn’t dominate tbh. He has done enough & there is no one that is/has done anymore then he has already, to justify taking them before him.

Apparently he played around 15 minutes in the middle last week and SA were treating it as more an exhibition than WA, which stands up based on the game I saw.
I like it.If he's as good as expected he should get all 3 concurrently.
Did many of his one game team mates play in the SANFL? It doesnt matter anyway. What he has been doing as an 18 yr old in arguably the best state comp in the country is enough. At the end of the day the Champs are a glorified exhibition match. Horne has nothing to prove at this level, he knows he is getting drafted, so from a mental perspective he might not be fully invested in Champs games.
On the flip when he is playing SANFL he is playing in a team that is trying to win a flag, so the motivation is high to perform and help his team.
No without being a psychologist I would be rating his performances in the SANFL over Champs.
Champs are set up for kids that want to showboat and push their case over kids who are suited to playing in a structured environment where team ethos is No.1.
Im not saying we wouldn’t love to see him rip up a Champs game, but I also think the performances in these games can sometimes be overrated.
Hmmm… based on the off-field stuff I think I’d be taking 27.I like it.
18 on the days he feels like bossing the forward line.
27 when he feels like putting on the white ankle braces and flying down the wing
6 when he feels like kicking 4 in a GF and taking a Norm Smith.
Leave it to his whim on the day.

Try tell him that missed tackle didn't mean anything to him.So I guess JHF didn't see the SA match as just an exhibition match - he had a quiet one and wanted to do better the next week - which he did.
