B: Lever, Talia, Brown
HB: Laird, Hartigan, Hampton
C: Smith B Crouch, Seedsman
HF: Menzel, Walker, Lynch
F: Cameron, Jenkins, Betts
R: Jacobs (pending MRP), M. Crouch, Sloane
I/C: Milera, Cheney, Knight, Lyons
Em: Doedee, Kelly, Atkins & Mcgovern

Lets be serious here.. nobody actually thinks we are going to land a big fish or that we are "up to our eye balls" in Rockliff?

B: Laird Talia Hartigan
LD: Smith
HB: Hampton Lever Cheney
C: Cameron Sloane Seedsman
HF: Knight Walker Lynch
FF: Betts Jenkins

1R: Jacobs Rockliff B Crouch

INT: M Crouch, Atkins, McGovern, Milera

Reasoning;

  • We ALWAYS play an extra defender. No point naming a 6 man back line. LD = Loose defender
  • Brown has been reasonable, but I'm more interested in gaining some speed (hence Hampton in) and also want to see Laird be accountable. He is too interested in padding his stats at the moment. Laird and M Crouch have a very bad habit of demanding the ball, even when in a poor position to receive it. They need to change this part of their game.
  • Jacobs gets the gig - just. One poor effort though and ROB is in for an extended run.
  • Thompson can go clog up Melbourne's midfield. Rockliff in. If we don't get Rockliff, then I'm happy to throw M Crouch on field and CEY on the bench.
  • Hampton, Cameron, Seedsman, Knight and Milera provide the running power. Such a great improvement on what we have had.
  • Atkins at this stage is in - but I fear he may be heading the way of Mackay. Two big finals and two cr@p his pants performances. Only gets one more chance.
  • Tough call on Brown and Lyons. To put it simply, I prefer the running power of Knight, Milera and Atkins over Lyons, but could be persuaded to change.
  • I want to see McGovern thrown in defence during the season. His flexibility to cover there could be critical in big games. Also keen to throw him on a wing for patches.
In summary;
OUT: Thompson, Lyons, Brown, Mackay, Douglas
IN: Rockliff, Knight, Hampton, Seedsman, Milera

Wandering if Gore was a waste of time wil be in the afl system 3 years and not one suggestion he should get a game

More the question how long do you keep guys that aren't going to make it
Pretty unlikely to ever play AFL for us IMO. I think he has another year on contract, so he has 12 months to turn around his very vanilla impression so far. A similar season next year and he's a certain delist.

B: DOEDEE, Talia, Lever

C: SMITH, Sloane, CAMERON
HF: MILERA, Lynch, MENZEL

Laird Talia Cameron
Lever Hartigan CEY
Hampton Rockliff Smith
Lynch Walker Knight
Betts Jenkins Menzel

R: Jacobs, Sloane, B.Crouch
Int: McGovern, M.Crouch, Atkins, Milera

Inside mids: CEY, Rockliff, B.Crouch, M.Crouch, Sloane
Outside mids: Hampton, Smith, Atkins, Milera, Knight, Sloane also, Menzel to a degree.

McGovern to be a swingman back and forward.
Cheney as depth very unlucky, and CEY in place for extra mid rotation feel like more importance
feel this team has much more potential rotations through our midfield e.g. Cameron have a run through the wing, smith and hampton can cover back.
atkins milera menzel hampton knight rotating hhf/wing
would like to see walker lose a bit of weight for next season, to be more mobile.
2016 it felt we had forwards and backs that were only forwards and backs, when our midfield struggle. need to rotate more through their.

You named seedsman, Mendel, Hampton , Matty Lloyd questioned that they didn't deliver this year, and he is right. All 50 game plus players which should have stepped straight in, Hampton was unlucky, but will that be an ongoing problem, Menzel I'm not sure on if it's an attitude problem in the way he prepares and Seedsman is a little vanilla.

Three recruits which I'm sure the crows thought would have added something to the team and none delivered, was that a major problem this year and will it change next year

Not taking into account any possible trades.

FB - Lever - Talia - Brown
HB - Laird - Hartigan - Seedsman
C - Smith - M. Crouch - Cameron
HF - Lynch - Walker - Knight
FF - Betts - Jenkins - McGovern
Foll - Jacobs - Sloane - B. Crouch
Int - Atkins - Milera - Cheney - Hampton

Next in Line: Douglas - MacKay - Ellis-Yolmen - Menzel - Lyons

We cannot afford to continue playing Thompson even if we do end up resigning him which appears inevitable at this point. Douglas comes out for Knight/Menzel hopefully, younger and faster options with more upside and same goes for MacKay with Hampton hopefully taking his place.

Cameron and Smith to the midfield to add more pace and we need to play Milera in there as well.

There's two big names being talked about, so let's get both of them!

Round 1:

Brown, Talia, Lever
Laird, Hartigan, Hampton
Smith, Sloane, B Crouch
Lynch, Walker, Cameron
Betts, Jenkins, McGovern
Jacobs, Martin, Rockliff
I/C: M Crouch, Atkins, Milera, Menzel
Balfors pie bank will have to be used again. We won't even get one let alone both.
