Not even close to players like Grigg or CEY at the end of this year. Needs to improve a fair bit to get to fringe level from what I've seen.

A topline mid added to that would be sweet. 2017 will be my guess for that. This club rarely has the balls to do it now. And it will probably be a second tier mid.
Trade out Hartigan, Jacobs and Lyons (2 out of those 3 prob wont happen)
Doedee, CEY, Wigg, and Seedsman all pushing for a spot
Mackay never to see light of day again.

In regards to Mackay and Douglas

I'd look at something like the following (this is without any incoming players)

FF: Milera, Jenkins, Betts
HF: Lynch, Walker, McGovern
C: Smith, B.Crouch, Cameron
HB: Seedsman, Hartigan, Lever
FB: Laird, Talia, Cheney
R: Jacobs, M.Crouch, Sloane
I: Douglas, Knight, Menzel, Brown

Dougie can still have a role in the midfield rotations and to spell one of the inside mids, just as long as we don't rest him forward. Seedsman and Cheney are probably my last ins and could be replaced by Hampton or Doedee if they perform better over pre-season. Was hard to keep Atkins out, but I'd start Cameron on the wing and then rotate Milera, Menzel and Cameron between there and the forward line.

I'm also assuming Lyons is leaving. Otherwise I'd have him in Douglas' spot.

Lyons unlikely to be at the club next year and Cheney yet to be offered a new deal which suggests at best he might get a one year deal and may not be in our best 22 planning

Thompson is another that is unlikely to figure in our best 22 and Douglas will be under pressure

also Brodie Smith to move back to HB and Seedsman on the wing IMO and I'm pretty confident that Milera will play more AFL footy and hopefully we will start to see Troy Menzel as well
