I’m not sure what you’re on about here? Posters here have said we have 3 kfs. Whether you call Georgiades or Marshall what doesn’t really matter.I like how the Marshall defences have dropped to making him the third tall, rather than the second.
Maybe if just add Ladhams to the starting forward line, then we can say Marshall is the 4th tall.
Without Marshall, what shape do you think we would be in when Dixon retires? This. I dont think we drafted him with the idea in mind that he play third fiddle. God help us when Dixon retires.
Everyone with any dignity would be distancing themselves from you at light speed. In a handful of posts you’ve claimed that people within the club dislike Todd (literally making up lies in some bizarre attempt?) and now are taking random unfunny potshots at him.Play todd marshmallow-shallow

We know that Dixon is our star (of our team) senior kf that we target. We play Georgiades close to goal and Marshall wanders from 50 to up the ground.

Love to hear your explanation for how a young 191cm kf survives the ******* mauling that he’s going to get.
And no, I won’t accept
- port magically drafts a better kf this off-season who is immediately ready
- port trades in mystery kf who is an upgrade
Because that’s fantasy.

This is why. There’s a massive amount of weird vitriol pointed at Todd.
All I've ever said is he needs to be dropped based on his pathetic effort. Its called setting standards.
You've taken it upon yourself to make the kind of defence that suggests people want him immediately desisted. Its beyond parody at this point.

Exactly the same position as we are in with Marshall.Without Marshall, what shape do you think we would be in when Dixon retires?
It'll be exactly the same amount of mauling that Gerogiadies will get when Marshall is playing.Love to hear your explanation for how a young 191cm kf survives the ******* mauling that he’s going to get.
And just another nail, Marshall was such a non-factor in the forward line that we needed to shift Aliir Aliir into the forward line to try and negate Lever's ability to impact.Hey Aliir played forward, so he already is.
Your position is that dropping Marshall is the best way to get him to improve ?
And that dropping him sets a “standard” within our playing group?
This first claim is disputable based on evidence that
a) we’ve never developed a kf more by playing him in the sanfl
B) the rest of the afl doesn’t develop key forwards in their reserves either.
at the very best you can claim that maybe against evidence your approach ‘might’ work.
The second one in particular is laughable.
Imagine our senior players quaking in their boots as we drop Marshall and replace him with Ladhams or woodcock. They’ll be sure to pull up their bootstraps after seeing that change.
Again, our team doesn't have to carry him most weeks.
Hayes is an unknown quantity at AFL level at this stage, but Ladhams is a significantly worse marking target than Marshall.
The SANFL is a graveyard for key forward development. The quality of the ball in is even lower and it's even less freeflowing.
My opinion is that by dropping Marshall, we really do nothing for his development. We also make our team worse now.
If we had a genuine key forward banging the door down at SANFL level it'd be a totally different story.
IIRC, Marshall doubled back and tried to put a block on Dixon's opponent to give Dixon a free run at the ball. It was the worst attempted block I've seen at AFL level. Didn't make any contact with the defender and wasn't even an obstacle. It was soft.
Marshall is perplexing because he does some good stuff but does some absolute garbage that at times makes you question his effort. Will he be a long term fixture in the forward line? I dont know. But I dont see how he can be rewarded with another game after that insipid performance on Thursday night, considering his replacement would not change the overall 3 forward structure that we've kept for a while.
I like how the Marshall defences have dropped to making him the third tall, rather than the second.
Maybe if just add Ladhams to the starting forward line, then we can say Marshall is the 4th tall.
The fact that Marshall, in his fifth year, is consigned even by his supporters to third tall behind Georgiades, in his second year, says just about everything you need to know about his development or lack thereof.
It's says Georgiades is a gun and an early developer, basically. How many key forwards from the 2019 draft are showing what he's shown. It doesn't say that Marshall can't be a perfectly good AFL player.
I'd suggest their performances have been basically on par for most of the season, with Marshall playing more of a lead up role and Georgiades generally playing closer to goal.
What's your solution? Hayes or Ladhams? Lord? How do you think other 5th year key forwards would be going in a Hinkley/Bassett forward line?
It's a confidence thing - he's overthinking everything and not playing on instinct. I also get the feeling he doesn't have faith in his body to stand up to the vigours of AFL - which is why he's going into things half assed at times.
An extended run in the SANFL can help him with both - and there is absolutely no doubt that he needs to spend more time in the gym.
Renowned beanpoles Eric hipwood and Joe daniher are both heavier than Toddy
Given they are both older and Marshall has missed significant training time to catch up that is hardly surprising.
Also shows the benefit of going through junior footy development, didn't he only really switch to footy in his draft year? He looks to have plenty of AFL standard qualities: height, speed and agility, excellent hands (bar trying to mark our mortar-style forward entries) and above all good vision to spot targets. If he'd gone anywhere else bar probably Gold Coast he'd be looking like having a 150+ game career. Instead he's scapegoated for a poorly coached team. It's says Georgiades is a gun and an early developer, basically. How many key forwards from the 2019 draft are showing what he's shown. It doesn't say that Marshall can't be a perfectly good AFL player.
when i said at the club, i meant the suppporter base, not the club staff, you would never get anyone from the club showing negativity towards the players, its sad really, the writing is on the wall and they have all become a boys club looking after each others welfare. You can forget about how bad Steven Trigg & Co were, we are most probably worse.I’m not sure what you’re on about here? Posters here have said we have 3 kfs. someone should write the list of 100 excuses of why Todd Marshall cant perform, some of the stuff you hear is just beyond belief
There’s no “thinking” about whether Marshall is soft. He simply is. It’s the thing that bothers me most about him, and I don’t understand why it continues to be tolerated.
Do you actually believe that or are you just trolling ?Dixon is softer than Marshall.

I agree he's not soft. When he's on he does enough in the contested stuff. But if you're not going to be a contested beast then you need to lead , make space, be creative and run.No, this is horseshit. You're painting him as a Nathan Lonie/Riley Bonner allergic to the contest type. That simply isn't the case and it's a thoughtless insult from someone who obviously doesn't watch him very closely.
If you're trying to argue is that he isn't strong enough in the contest, then you're absolutely right. He absolutely needs to spend some time in the gym. But, you can be not strong enough in the contest while not being soft, with Jake Neade being the #1 example.
Not every key forward is or needs to be a Charlie Dixon style man mountain, but absolutely, if Todd is going to continue to sacrifice strength for mobility he needs to use that mobility to find more of the ball.
Plenty of players take time to fill out, especially talls.
