People might know who this is, but this serious. Very serious. I barrack for Team X and i'm pissed off with the way i have been treated by other club members of the same team. I have been disrespected, slagged, called 'a traitor' and basically i don't see this team going anyway, and in fact, i think they may fold very soon (they have got a 6 million dollar debt) - my question is ,would it be wrong to change allegenices, and my membership money (which i haven't paid up yet) to my second fav club, Carlton, whom i feel more warm to, as i've chatted to a few of their players who make me feel welcome, and i'm dissillusioned with my current club. I have barracked for, well to heck with it, Geelong since i was 9 (1989) but with rumors about my hero's downfall, and being treated with contempt with another GFC forum, i am very seriously thinking of becoming a full blooded Bluebagger. i do not want any geelong fan replies, as i know i'm going to be bagged. i haven't made my mind up but i'm very close to it, and i'm suffering personal anguish and pain as i type this, please take it seriously and dont' abuse me, my head says Geelong at this stage, but, but, my heart says Carlton.

Don't change.

If your club is in trouble, then they need you now more than ever.

If they fold, then you have the honour of having fought with them to the very end.

Worry about what other fans say to/about you on a personal level, perhaps. But your devotion for your club transcends the personal. Club X should be more important to you any of the other fans, and more important to you than your care for what other fans think about you.

Bugger off to Carlton. Most Geelong supporters on that forum believe that you ARE a Carlton supporter anyway.

You and Big Jack should make a perfect couple

Stay where you are and bloody well get in and help em out anyway you can.I think you are a wretch even to contemplate such an idea im sorry to call you that'well im not sorry to call you that'you are a dirty vile wretch,go and do me a favor grab a dictionary and look up the meaning of LOYALITY.If this country ever finds itself in a war zone.i'd like to know who you are,as you would be the last bastard i'd wanna be with in a trench somewhere.

I get up in the evening and i ain't got nothing to say,I come home in the morning,I go to bed feeling the same way,I ain't nothing but tired,Man i'm just tired and bored with myself,Hey there baby,I could use just a little help.

I agree. Stay with Geelong. Give them all the passion and support you have a help them out by doing everything humanly possible. If you change then who says in the future the same won't happen to you at Carlton, and then you change again and so on.
Stick with em.

Gee I dont know if you know what following a football team is all about. If youre gonna be put of by a little personal abuse then find something else to do with your time. At the bulldogs all we do is argue with one another. And fancy saying that Carlton is the club that "your heart" goes with-if your heart is that dark then follow them by all means. Just dont expect it to be the same as following Geelong-the Carlton sup[porters wont want a turncoat supporter and I think youll know what the Geelong supporters will think.

Personally, I couldn't just switch off and start supporting another team, I guess that sounds funny coz I did go from the Roys to the Brisbane Lions but that's a little different.

I say STICK IT OUT with the Cats. If these supporters give you sh*t, just stop going to their forum or whatever it is. Ultimately it's your decision, but yeah, that's just my 2 cents.

I would stick with your club. The question is though, who will you barrack for when the two teams play against each other? That will probably help you decide. When Melbourne was going to merge I would have still barracked for the Melbourne Hawks. I couldn't imagine just suddenly changing overnight to another club which I have probably had a go at over the years.

Why bother changing teams, it wouldn't be long before you pissed all the Blues supporters off as well. My suggestion is give up footy & footy forums, give everyone a break.

????, don't jump ship.

You barrack for Geelong.
The Club.
The Jumper.
The History.
The Players (even though they might only be with you for a couple of years, and then hop off to another club).

Your loyalties are with them, not the supporters. If they seriously have nothing else better to do then bag a "supporter", then these fickle fans should find another club to go watch.

Stick with 'em

I would have thought it would have been the other way around, in which case, stay with Geelong. What would hurt you more..... if I was to say (only for the sake of this example!)... "Geelong is shit-Stoneham... good riddance of the pretender"..... or "Carlton is shit- Brown.... glad to see the back of the thug". Whichever strikes a nerve more, you should go with. You need emotion, be it negative or positive.

You've grown up with Geelong, cheering, following, supporting(?) etc., and you don't lose that overnight. No matter how much selections/certain player's poor disposal/tactics/financial position etc. piss ya off, you know you love the team/club..... But in your case..... "since they're in debt" - **** 'em?? … and because some players from Carton were nice to ya ????

To tell ya the truth, I've got no respect for your pathetic reasoning.

My team IS in the same scenario, and most probably in a worse position, and I'll stick by 'em no matter what. Even if they merge, I don't know how much I'll "love" the team, but at least I've got something to identify with. If I was to jump ship to another team, I would be thinking "WTF am I doing here??". I don't know much about footy, let alone anything to do with teams other than the doggies, and I would be lost at "my team’s (old rivals) " games. You'll probably feel differently, but I would feel like a second rate supporter of that team. I wouldn't feel ANYTHING but apathy. I couldn't give a toss if they win or lose. Another thing.... you won't get much respect from your mates who are calling you a traitor NOW.... They’ll still call ya a deserter or even a.... bandwagoner
eek.gif
.... but if you feel that strongly for Calrton, go for your life.... and tell Jack I said “HI!....... dickhead!”
biggrin.gif

As Dees01 pointed out, ask yourself whether you honestly no longer have feelings for Geelong, (you no longer celebrate when you win??.... punch a brick wall or two when you lose.....??). Just one last thing, give it a week, and if it happens, see how much Carlton's loss to the Doggies
wink.gif
next week hurts. If it's sorta 'Ho-Hum' and you don’t give a shit as a genuine rival wouldn’t.... you know who to stay with.

Help you?

HA

Why would anyone want to help a spineless jellyfish like you?
Football is better off without fair weather supporters like you.
Go follow soccer, they don't care if you swap clubs every year, come gack to footy when you have some intestinal fortitude, when you are willing to go through the hard times, as well as ride on the coat tails when the good times arrive

Piss off, you make me sick

A mate of mine jumped on our wagon last year after following Collingwood for all his 36 years. He keeps reminding everyone he's now an Essendon supporter. But really, we see him as a Collingwood supporter who walked out when they needed him. So he's not taken seriously by the 'true believers', despite him taking out an Essendon membership.
Jeez, i'd love to hear Joffas opion on this bloke!

where's wally?

You complete idiot. To even consider changing teams pisses me off. Ok the thought may quickly pop into your thick head but if you are a real footy fan, it would fly out the other ear.
My only advice is to stick with your team through thick and thin. Other supporters may have been through more than you but they have not given up. Don't be a wuss.

fair anough.but do you's hate people that go for more than one team?

Don't ever give up on your club until they die and also I don't believe in mergers either it would then be time to move on.

Its good to have another code to support as well. I love the Storm as much as Melb.Demons. I had a soccer team but lost it to nationalization of soccer.

Come and watch some rugby league...its great, but stick with Geelong and sit somewhere else...make some new friends.
