Does anyone think that non-Vic clubs referring to them selves as interstate clubs is damaging?
I think it reinforces the us vs them mentality especially for the Victorians, with their whole "you joined our comp".
Shame the Vics can put their internal state rivalries aside when it counts, but the SA/WA/NSW/QLD clubs can't find common ground, or don't seem to want to.
The only way to break the pro-Vic bias, is to hit the AFL, or make the threat of a hit real enough, on them financially. That can only be done with a united "interstate" front.
The media plays a big role in this. SA media can't wait to lay the boot in to Port over anything, which helps maintain division.
Victorian clubs/media at least seem to be able to put their differences aside for their own greater good.
