I do agree though. It's not up to the AFL to interfere with how teams want to play. It's up to the audience. If we don't like the product, stop supporting it.

That's nice in theory, but (few) people are going to jump sports. As for saying you're going to change the team you follow because they play dour shit and others don't. If we went that route the 2000 at tomorrows Showdown would be our regular crowd after 2015 - 2019.

Some of the blame has to lie at the feet of club administrations (Port a case in point), who fail to grasp that 'close' doesn't mean you are going to take the necessary next steps and be able to identify a 'real' close from a 'play it safe illusionary' close. Ours completely ****ed that one.

Another part is the AFL thinking speeding up the game will increase scoring. Speeding up the game has increased the strength of athletes that can do some football over footballers who aren't that athletic, as players best suited to the game. If they are going to try and improve the spectacle they need to think about what rules won't play to the strength of those that can run all game, so that the variable of difference swings back to skill, not fitness.

Two Melbourne players are set to be suspended under the AFL’s strict COVID-19 protocols, after breaking regulations.

Foxfooty.com.au understands Charlie Spargo and Kysaiah Pickett are the two players involved, with Melbourne self-reporting the incident.

Pickett, who is believed to have visited another house against COVID-19 rules, was selected in the forward pocket to play against Carlton this weekend, while Spargo was one of seven Demon players omitted. It now appears almost certain both will be suspended.

AFL content has been recently allowed on the Reddit sports board

The first real post to get any traction is a photo of all the players kneeling pre match.

What I love is how there a lot of non footy followers asking how they can both wear a strip predominantly black hahaha and why can't one just avoid black and a clash

Plans to allow 10,000 back into sporting venues.

He[Morrison] said, 'states and territories were on track to implement the changes in July'.

It will be interesting to see how the clubs handle that. How will they ration 10,000 seats per match out among 40,000 members? You would think it would have to be some sort of rotation system so that every season ticket holder gets a chance to see a few games.

With the border changes and 10,000 crowd limits it looks like SA may be back in business after the hub. The AFL haven't announced the draw after round 5 but if they had a bye then restarted it would be within a day or so of the 20th July.

The above post has relevance in this thread as well.

As posted, It will be interesting to see how the clubs handle crowds of 10,000. How will they ration their seat allocation per match among 40,000 season ticket holders? FOOTNOTE: What Morrison actually said was, 'For up to 25% of crowd capacity at those venues.' That could mean crowds of 25,000 at the MCG.

That jar of Collingwood racism has been reopened. Hertier Lumumba has taken a shot at Eddie and Collingwood over his treatment while he was at Collingwood. As a result Eddie is getting another serve of Adam Goodes and King Kong.

Maybe Collingwood should change their guernsey to all back to show they are not prejudiced and leave the black & white to a Club that knows how to embrace all cultures?

To be fair though if you are going to play the racist card you should at least agree to meet with the other party to resolve the issues so that all parties can move forward. Apparently Lumumba wants an apology but will not meet with Collingwood and under those circumstances it is a bit hard to reconcile and re educate. If what Lumumba says is true then there are no excuses but if you want to change things for the better you have to be prepared to talk.

For the record Hertier Lumumba is Brazilian born and was drafted as Harry O'Brien before changing his name in 2013.

What Morrison has permitted is 25% capacity at stadiums with a capacity of <40,000. Under questioning about larger stadiums, eg MCG, Adelaide Oval, Marvel, he said that they were currently excluded while they worked through issues around staffing, transport, entry etc but that he foresees these stadiums being permitted to host games in the near future, in line with the relevant state regulations.

Does this mean that these stadiums cannot admit more than 10K, or that state regulations will determine this? I don't know, it was all left up in the air. I guess we'll find out next week?

Less than.

What health authorities are working through is accessing and exiting the stadiums with capacity greater than 40,000 and that is to be expected. The numbers are unaffected and are as in the link I posted.

From the link,

Mr Morrison said, venues with capacities of more than 40,000 people could be allowed to fill a quarter of their seats, but said the details of that were still being worked out in conjunction with chief health officers around the country.

That means the MCG could hold 25,000 once the means of ingress and egress have been worked through. It may mean the crowd exiting 'bay by bay' at the end of the game.

Wait until it's a 'big name' player and the AFL conveniently relax the draconian regulations

I'd put a fair whack of money on that

Nat Fyfe likes this.

Channel SEVEN crowing about last night's game being the largest television audience in the history of televised sport in Australia. What the **** did they expect? No crowds and no footy for three months for **** sake.

SEVEN are not my favourite organisation atm, cannot think why?

Collingwood wants to meet him privately so they can manage the PR. He knows that.
They need to publicly apologise, without any caveats, for the relationship to heal.

Same applies to McCleod and the Crows.
... and Betts and the Crows
... and Cameron and the Crows
... and Ellis-Yolmen and the Crows
... etc
