Can't agree with that comment mate, how about these blokes?

McVeigh, Hannebery, O'Keefe, Mitchell, Tippett, Malceski, Kennedy, Kieren Jack, Goodes & Mumford?

And how salary cap would those players be taking up?

Also how does it affect culture with a couple of players earning so much money compared to others.

Also sucked in AFL and GWS, your little manipulative plan backfired and this will screw Cameron over big time IMO. Their draft picks will slowly leave and GWS will be a blip on the radar.

I'd love to know, can't imagine any of them would be cheap (yes, I know they have some relief coz of the veterans list)

Kochie needs to do the same. Franklin should be at GWS or Port next year.

I reckon more of these deals will become more common. I was joking around we should have thrown a massive offer like this to Cameron.

In fairness, didn't GWS offer him more money 12 mil over 6?
I think they were quoted as saying they cant match sydneys offer....either way sydney shouldnt even be in the vacinty of matching gws .....if this 9 year contract is true I hope the malthouses the eddie maguires casual kieths jeff kennetts kevin sheedys go medievil on the afl.... its a blatent rort when clubs like ours who generally are clawing their way back to the top...our success will be earned and fought for not bought...I will be f***ing dirty if we play off against a sydney bought team in a final and lose just because their col allows them to keep guns poach guns...this blood culture is a load of shite now....its obvious now where their success comes from...

Its just crap .....I am dirty on this.....sydney are an estblished team...the col is bs as perth doesn't recieve col...

Maybe the AFL should collect all revenue from all clubs and the equal distribute it, plus revenue from other sources.

Here is the pp spend for each team in 2012, when Sydney won the premiership:

This was before they found an extra 1 mill for Tippett and a year later even more $$$ for Franklin.

Freo must be paying Pav, Sandilands and McPharlin an absolute ****ing fortune.

This is another reason why focusing on drafting and keeping a group of elite players together is better than trying to 'buy' a premiership as soon as you can. More than half of Sydney's spend is on their veterans list, half of which is outside the cap anyway. So they can afford to bring in other talented players and still keep their stars, remaining in finals and turning their list over while drafting in more talent to replace their veterans as they retire.

Our problem is, and always has been, the dearth of 26-30 year old talent on our list. We've hardly had any players push to 200 games - P. Burgoyne, Kane and Chad, Lade, Tredrea and Cassisi. Everyone else either left for another club or was cruelled by injury, robbing us of the opportunity to really take advantage of the veterans list.

Wait until Boak, Carlile, Gray, Hartlett, Wingard, Wines, Lobbe, Trengove etc. hit the veteran's list. Imagine being able to add 110k to the salary cap for each one of those players as they turn 28 (10 years of service). You can recruit some nice 26 year old stars with that coin through FA which can smooth the way for your draft picks to come through, and the cycle starts again.

That graph says Freo paid $8.1mil and $1.5mil of veterans payments. In 2012 only Pavlich and Grover were on the veterans list according to 2012 AFL Record season Guide. I'd think 80% of that is Pav's. That means he is on close over $2mil.

But that doesn't make sense as the salary cap in 2012 was $8.787 mil and the ASA's were $613k. So as a club had to pay 95% of the cap in 2012, those graphs say to me that the ASA's aren't included and the veterans amount is the total inside and outside the cap.

So Pav probably gets 80% of the $1.5mil of the total veterans payment amount.

In 2013 the 2 Freo veterans are Pavi and Sandilands.

Nah word is he spoke to Guerra.

We ****ed Guerra off.

Gunston ****ed off from you lot.

Big difference.

If you were intelligent enough you would have said Burgoyne but that is obviously not your strong point so I'll leave it there.
