Review Port vs 31 free kicks to 19

Duncan approaches every contest with one of his shoulders in a downwards position ready to flick it up, hes taken over from selwood. Should be absolutely buried in every tackle to teach him a lesson and never be paid a freekick ever again..
Yes, Duncan leads with his head, Cameron can only raise one arm and Smith cannot bend down (to pick the ball up).
Yes, umpires were crap but we lost because of poor conversions where, afte getting in front in the last quarter; we missed three very getable goals.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a coach who thought skill development was more important than pressure acts!

There's a common theme about the 7 games selected, as distinct to the 35 not selected. Related to the umpires officiating.

Name them then.

Please provide your research to the club and Kornes etc

The last quarter we get a run on all the sudden the cats get three frees in a row to halt us ..hmmm yeah that's currupt as * ..

Sure we missed some goals ..

But * it would be nice to get some frees 10 metres out from goal like our good friends down at the caterry

To me part of this issue interstate clubs have with umpires is shown in this exchange between Kane and Bucks:

So if you are a club in Melbourne, you basically have access to 90% of the umpires basically on a daily basis at trainings and the like. I guarantee this helps build relationships, understand better whats going on, and allows you to work on techniques etc to adjust to interpretations.

If you are Port/Adelaide etc, you might have access to 1/2 umpires if you are lucky (although I suspect they would be based in Melb for training - but dont know that) - so how are you meant to foster relationships and have ongoing dialog and learnings on the ever changing interpretations.

I remember back in the covid years, interstate clubs were banned from extra training sessions etc despite it being allowed under COVID rules to allow an even playing field for all clubs ... so why can Melbourne clubs have umpires on tap daily to work with and we might have fly ins one or twice a year to talk stuff over ?

If the umpires are truly full time, then as a minimum every umpire should be on a roster to visit the interstate clubs weekly if you are going to be fair dinkum ... or umpires should NOT be permitted to attend Melbourne training sessions.

Imagine getting Elani in for a Port training session

She be paying frees to the coaching staff and trying to report our players for being too connected

Surely that is Photoshopped?

If not, when was that taken? Chris has a full beard now, so must not be recent.

Geelong were also involved in the match (against the Bulldogs) when he broke the AFL Umpiring Games record of 496. Both teams gave him a guard of honour afterwards.
Richmond and Melbourne did it a few games later for his 500th.

He umpired two Grand Finals during his career, 2004 and 2007.
