I like how they've incorporated it into the logo, but still 'Port Adelaide Football Club' should be on it somewhere. Nice banner though.

Yeah, I agree. It's a good solution to adding reference to the creed on our logo.

It's also good to see a noticeable change in the image strategy, using a mix of historical photos and new players. There can be no mistaking the intent of the message.

BTW, was this always there? I hadn't seen it before.

I fixed it.

Edit:- I've emailed the club congratulating them on the new banner and with this suggested improvement. Here's a link to where it's hosted on Imageshack if you want to see it in a decent size

You know, if this thread hadn't been posted, I probably wouldn't have known about it. Haven't been to the Port website for months.

Yep. I'd love for it to be used on a nice membership hat or polo or any merch for that fact.

Here's something I whipped up, pretty dodgey editing but you get the point.

Only prob is the "port adelaide football club" you've added isn't centred. They'd have to shift things around. I hope they do.
It's a matter of taste I think. When I put it in I thought the positioning was good but I can see not everyone would like it that way.

It would be easy to fix with a different font and or font size.

Love the banner and love the logo. Can see the credit card getting a bit of a bashing when the new apparel comes in (badly need a 'club' wardrobe refresh for me, the bride and the kids.).

Just hope the designs are OK this year.

ALLELUIA!!

I dont like it.............I LOVE IT!!......

I will be renewing my membership this year thats for sure...

Thank you, and well done to those who created this masterpiece!!

I feel that this was long overdue, it brings home a sense of who and what I love about our club and the Russel Ebert touch is simply fantastic and Fos is just genius stroke of the brush.

Love it!!!!

After 2 years of revolution, a lot of grey and a lot of heartache ... and trying to appeal to non-Port people by disassociating with the old 'Port' as in Magpies and pissing us diehards off ... crowds going down anyway, Port have gone 'kiss' ... try keep us old faithful fans and just talk about the power, a bit of old magpies in the background (Fos, Russell Ebert, Greg Phillips and Brian Cunningham) ... and the new leaders in the foreground ...

Our enforcer Josh Carr back, a new skipper, just keep choco in check ... let him coach and not be our marketing/media guy, too. I'm liking Port in 2009!

Go the power!

Yep, great design and gives appropriate recognition to the past and our heritage.

I just hope we live up the Creed in 2009, and this new website design is hopefully a significant step in the right direction. Not sure it will win any lost fans back though?

Probably not by itself, no. Hopefully we Live the Creed and not the Crud.

Good work Rory, can you do another one replacing POWER with PAFC

On the new website banner, my Pride'O'Metre has definately gone back up a few notches.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, but does the membership target thing have a target of 36,340? That's a somewhat... odd number to aim for...

Anyways yeah, the site looks great!

Personally, I love it. Very slick design, fantastic way of incorporating with the Magpies pictures.

However, I showed it to a couple of fellow Port supporters that are my age(17-18). One was a recent convert to Port and one has been a Port supporter for quite a long time. Both were quite bemused with the whole Creed thing and they thought it was a bit of a joke. Though we all may love it, you would be naive to not recognise this has the potential to turn away fans. Having said this, i'm thrilled the club has finally gone back to it's roots.

Did they elaborate in anyway as to why they thought it was a bit of a joke?

This idea that people will be turned off by the old magpies references bemuses me. If you decide to barrack for Port Adelaide in the AFL, you know exactly where the club has come from. You have made a concious decison to follow Port Adelaide, the same club that has been around forever and all the baggage that comes with it. If you're too young to remember before Port only existed in the AFL, then who gives a toss - all your getting is a bit of a history lesson which I doubt is going to turn you off. Idiots like KG, Cornsey and other Clown supporters saying that bringing up our own clubs history will turn people off is just moronic. If you have a lifelong history of hating the Magpies, you simply are not going to follow Port FULL STOP. There aren't too many 40 year old football followers out there who haven't decided on which team they are going to support. It's a ******ed arguement peddled by imbiciles.

Amen!

All this nonsense about port's history turning away people is just propoganda perpetuated by those who want to hide the one thing that sets us apart from the fruit tingles in an effort to make us "crows lite"
