Positives:
Didn't get blown away early.
Stayed with them despite most of our better players being well held

Negatives:
Astbury getting injured
Not making them pay for our dominance in the 3rd quarter.
A 2 minute burst in the last cost us when they kicked 3 goals in 9 kicks

Changes:
Astbury Out
McGuane/Gourdis In

Was there an injury reason why McG came out, or a weather decision? Someone dropped a hint this morning in the gameday thread that it might happen...

Cotchin being out on the ground after the siren in the wet practicing that kick he missed!

I haven't seen many players do that often and show that kind of dedication, but what a great kid/future Richmond have got!

Dimma said that he was a little sore and with the weather they decided to sit him out.

He will be our next captain after Newy calls it quits or decides to play the last few years as just a player.
Oozes leadership and will be a terrific skipper.

Positives:
We didn't get flogged and will get our chance to beat them at home later in a season.

Negatives
Obviously the Astbury injury.
Selective umpiring.

Changes

In: Post, Mcguane, Gourdis
Out: Astbury, Miller, One of the players around 180cm, we have too many.

Miller has served his purpose. He is not athletic enough to be part of our future, we need Post to play at least 8 games if not the rest of the season. Next year should be our focus and if we play finals this year it just means our development is going in the right direction. We are also playing to many players that are part of the 180 club and regardless of how good they are you can only have so many.

I haven't seen the game yet, just got back from work at the start of the last quarter but I assume Astbury out at least. I'm sure they'll find some way to not give Gourdis a game however. I think it's probably time for Webberley to come in. I do think Batch is best 22 but given he was due a rest and only came in as a late inclusion, perhaps he'll get it this week.

Out - Astbury, Batchelor
In - Gourdis, Webberley

Let's not kid ourselves.

We were blown away everywhere but the scoreboard and we can thank the swans for it.
We might have been blown away everywhere bar the scoreboard, but poor kicking is poor footy. The fact that despite their dominance we were still in the game is what allowed us to come back in the second half.

Positives
Our stars getting some ball
Not getting smashed like Brisbane
Keeping up with their tackling
Edwards still in some kind of form

Negatives
Kingy being well held
Astbury
Defense
Riewoldt getting a bit frustrated

Changes
In: Mcguane, Gourdis, Webberley
Out: Astbury, Batchelor, Conca

The young guys need a rest and obviously Astbury was injured. Hopefully Kingy can bounce back next week and we can beat Brisbane for the second time.
And also hope Hislop is warmed up to provide a better game next week.

Correct

Incorrect

Negatives - Riewoldt , out of form and suspect he may be carrying something
- Backline , when Miller is left as the key defender , you're not going to win many games , that kid kicks straight the game was well over at half time
- Passengers , the ol' richmond style of not enough contributors

Positives - "upside" is about the only positive the last fortnight , been horrible the last 2 weeks but still in games
- the fact we have absolutely no backline but we are still reasonably competetive
- the continued form of Rance ... improved performance from Edwards today

I think we all got pretty excited after the bombers win but the reality is a lot more patience is required ...

My hope from here on in is that we run the season out and don't turn our toes up

Amazing posters are saying Conca & Batchelor need a rest the week after having a bye.

Thanks. I didnt think there was a problem with my reception. Glad someone else saw that.

To be 17 points down in the last after they had fluffed so many set shots was a real dose of reality.

What is really sad is Essendon is falling away and we wont be able to capitalise.

Correct

Incorrect
Might have to go back and watch the first quarter again(had family over) but I honestly don't think we were truly blown away in the first quarter. Swans just seemed to get better opportunities from their forward enteries early than we did.

Any chance that the ones he kicked while out there can be added to our score.

And that's all well and good but if the only reason you can survive poor starts is thanks to the other team there is no reason for it to be a positive on our side.even though its a negative on their side.

Fought the game out wich was good but shit we need a ruckman and its now time to forget about miller he is not the answer bring in post and griff .

POSITIVES:

- Houli was tough enough at the contest and provided some inspired run.

- Farmer played a good game, didnt get exposed for his lack of pace like usual (proberbly as a result of the condtions) and kicked well.

- Batchelor, Edwards, Martin and Rance did a few things well (werent consistent enough across four quarters though.)

NEGATIVES:

- White, completely misjudges the flight of the ball, his only asset - speed, will not get him far enough to ever be a good player

- Newman, as captain he has to many games with no impact.

- Miller was diabolical down back, granted that was due to an injury and hes not used to the possition, but was definately cringworth defending at times

- Browne made Seaby look like a star, and this happens every week to average ruckman. Opposition Ruckman would salivate at the opportunity to play Browne/Graham and hopefully get themselves some brownlow votes. MUST TRADE FOR A AFL STANDARD RUCKMAN

- Contest marking, contested ball and clearances we were SMASHED and these are pivotal KPI's, conclusion - we did not play well enough.
