1. Welsh - Great tackling and scoring on a night that didn't give him alot of opportunities.

POTY

5. Doughty - he was excellent running off half back. Not to mention those 2 match saving moments - the smother on Sydney's goal line and the tackle on Hall in the dying minutes.
4. Bock - also fantastic running off HB. Really hard to split him and Dogga for 4/5 votes but those 2 saves by Doughty just put him ahead, imo.
3. McLeod

Very hard to say categorically who were the best 5 in what was a very even performance. :)

POTY

5. Thompson - Best of the mid-fielders IMO and laid 11 bruising tackles. One of our best ever trades.

4. McLeod - Hated playing in defence last year didn't he, but not this year. What's changed? Who's gone? :D Mopped up beautifully and a match-winner in the last quarter.

3. Rutten - huge game at full-back and kept BBBB Hall down to fk-all. PS strange bandage around Hall's head - did he have a circumcision at quarter time? ;)

2. Bock - excellent running game by Bocky for the first 3 quarters. They'll work on his endurance next year.

1. Doughty - had to put him in for what was easily his gutsiest effort all year and then some. Did all the little one percenters and has definitely had a heart transplant under Craigy.

Apologies to gutsy efforts from Mattner, Edwards, Burton and Welsh Welcome back Stiffy as well!!

Best Team Man

3. Mattner - worked his arse off and drove the ball in quickly and long. Tackles like a demon.

2. Thompson - see above

1. Shirley - another of the elite brigade in the work ethic department. Checks well and tackles hard. Fearless.

ROOKIE

Benny Rutten - come on down!!

5. Nathan Bock - actually held the backline together in some difficult moments - especially early and was solid all night - makes a difference when he has to stand the resting ruckmen though.
4. Marty Mattner - was strong in the cliches and with 1%'ers - looks dangerous when he runs with the ball
3. Tyson Edwards - put in 110% all night and was trying to set things up for others, provided an option when up forward
2. Andrew mcCleod - really happy with Macca's consistency atm
1. Michael Doughty - was pretty good most of the night and those team things were great- especially that goal he saved

TM
3. Michael Doughty - see above
2. Martin Mattner - also some great team things re desperation
1. Ben Rutten - good job on Hall and was providing support all night

Re my POTY and Team Man votes - my son reckons Scotty Thomson should have scored votes because he tried so hard and had 11 tackles - so apologies to him - reckons he was our best player.

Just about imposible to get 5 best players this week because no one had a stand out game and every one did something at some stage that had an effect on the result.

POTY

5. Michael Doughty -
Wow and I mean WOW. I always thought he was a skilfull, decent player but what ********ed me off about him was his softness. Not tonight. He was simply SUPERB. He put his body on the line and produced one of his best games for the club. Not stats wise but just as far as his impact on the game is concerned. He did four 1 %ers that saved certain goals. That smother at the goal line and tackle on Barry Hall were the highlights.

4. Nathan Bock - I thought he was probably our most consistent players tonight. Ran out of legs in the 4th quarter and as a result got a bit of spanking by Goodes but overall a VERY good game.

3. Andrew McLeod - He is just preparing nicely for the finals. Doing his job accross HB with a minimum of fuss. Having a pretty good year and don't be surprised if he does sneak into AA side

2. Ben Rutten - How crutial is this bloke to our success?????? He has taken on some BIG names this year and beaten them fair and square. Surely he has to be AA fullback.

1. Martin Mattner - He didn't get a lot of the ball but I thought he ignited our mini run at the start of the 3rd quarter. His chasing and tackling was sensational.

Honourable Mentions: Scott Welsh, Tyson Edwards, Ben Hart and Graham Johncock

Best Team Men

3. Michael Doughty -
See above.
2. Scott Welsh - Not only did he kick 3 goals but just as importantly his defensive pressure inside 50 was SUPERB.
1. Martin Mattner - See above.

Rookie

Ben Rutten -
See Above.

Some observations: A staggering 82 tackles from us tonight with Thompson (11), Mattner (10) and Shirley (8) leading the way. The only player not to have a single tackle form the Crows is suprisingly Ben Hudson. Hudson and O'Loughlin are the only 2 players that didn't have asingle tackle to their name tonight. Sydney had 72 tackles.

I wonder what the record is for most tackles in one match. 154 would be right up there I would have thought.
