Milera has to go out. Enough’s enough. Wasn’t a fan of him playing round 1, but I wanted it to work.
Too many costly errors and turnovers.
Edwards would be the obvious replacement, but I’d go as far as to say I’d prefer Smith to Milera. Come at me 🥊
Milera is clearly picking when to try and when not too given how he played last week compared to last night. Yes, they are different opposition but you can always pride yourself on effort.

There’s one glaring issue with Sid Draper’s game, which worried me when we recruited him — and even more after watching him yesterday.

He doesn’t kick the ball. For a player with such line breaking speed, it’s such a waste to be so handball happy. He should be a huge metre eater. If he can’t change his game, we are going to lament not picking Langford ahead of him. 17 handballs yesterday. 7 kicks.

Fix it, AFC. And he can do it in the SANFL I reckon.
We'll be complaining how slow our midfield will be had we selected Langford lol. It's easily fixable given Draper isn't a very poor kick.

As ridiculous as it is to kill a guy for one disposal or error, just the lack of care for the ball at that stage of the game was astonishing!

They're constructive handballs though, not the Crouch/Laird backwards to a player under pressure handball.

I don’t get the Sid criticism, kid comfortably looks the goods. Why we’re selecting a known fringe player ahead of him is madness. If we didn’t have Sid, I’d be happy enough for Berry to get a couple of games.

Milera doesn't give us enough, and yes he is picking and choosing when to go. Also drop Berry and bring in Cheds, even if he is sub. He is wasted in SANFL

out Milera (Cumming to HB), Berry (Edwards to sub), bring in Sid where he can use his speed on the wing.

To be fair to Berry he's not put a foot wrong so far this year.

Happy for him to continue to sit as the sub, but Draper does need a spot.

Beat the Pies at the G and we should be in the top 2 after round 11.

Walker needs a break. Give Curtin his role. Edwards as 3rd wingman.

Bond in for Milera to play on Normie.

Berry needs a full game, so Pedlar in as sub.

In: Edwards, Bond, Pedlar
Out: Walker, Milera, Berry

B: Bond, Butt, Keane
HB: Michaelanny, Worrell, Hinge
C: Cumming, Dawson, Nankervis
HF: ANB, Fogarty, Keays
F: Rachele, Thilthorpe, Curtin
R: OBrien, Peatling, Rankine
I: Laird, Soligo, Edwards, Taylor
Sub: Pedlar

So do we get to watch Daicos absolutely destroy it in the midfield like we just watched with Butters ?
Collingwood aren't just gonna end up bombing it where Dixon used to be
Yep, we don’t tag regardless of opposition. Our lack of ability to have a shutdown player or tactic for opposition A-Graders is a big deficiency, regardless of who we play in our midfield mix.

Huge test. It's going to require guts and determination.

I know we will be in this game, but we'll need the same belief as Collingwood in those final minutes and to be sure that any bad umpiring decisions will not stop us.

Really liking the idea of holding Draper out and dropping Curtin, it’s like people are so desperate to get 7th on the ladder that they’ll think as short term as if there name was Matthew Nicks.

If there are two kids we can carry whilst not injured and get to 50 games it is those two, they are the future as much as Thilthorpe.

For years we identified not having top 10 picks and now we have them there are people who’d rather not play them and let them get confidence in the magoos.

Kinda wish the same standards were being applied to some of our downhill skiing group of seniors who continuously let us down in close games.

If there is a game you want those guys learning from, it is against the ladder leaders

Berry’s impact as sub has been very good, would keep him in that role for now

Who would you drop for Draper?

At least 10 people.

I mean seriously, Berry is a fringe player, why prioritise games into him above Draper?

It was only last year that we had someone on here confidently telling us that we wouldn’t notice the drop between Thilthorpe and Burgess.

Talent shines through and should be nurtured.

I’d be happier giving Draper a full SANFL game compared to an AFL sub game, tbh. Develop his midfield craft at whatever level - don’t give him minimal game time (I don’t really care about Berry, hence why he’s the perfect sub)

That Burgess/Thilthorpe point is completely irrelevant to the discussion FWIW

Draper is incredibly talented, but what moves would you make to get him into the side this week?

Not to mention its at the MCG. We get 3 games at the MCG this year. Draper and Curtin need to play all 3.

SANFL will do nothing for Draper. Full game AFL > Sub Game AFL > Rest > SANFL.

I’ve said in the past that if Draper stays a month or more in the SANFL side, there’s something to worry about

Otherwise, I’m happy to trust the process. Why is Draper getting 1/4 of a game at AFL level better for his development that a full game at SANFL level?

its called SNTS

Shiny new toy syndrome

people just want new players for the sake of new players. It’s kind of pathetic. It’s like the obsession with Draper. He has done ****all to deserve his spot but was given so many chances. We have Dowling and Edwards who easily deserve a spot above Draper right now. But everyones obsessed with Milera being outed and playing Draper
Maybe some on this board have it.

The opposite though is Treasued Old Toy Syndrome, and it has been a big problem at selection for years.

Every club has it. Unfortunately with team sports mature age players tend to hang around longer than you would idealy like. Its probably the romance of it all.
