Almost seems like we've promised him 300 regardless of what happens. If that's the case, I'd much rather give him another year under the condition that we'll play him 5-6 times to get him there rather than continue to blow up this year.

We can carry him for a few games, not a whole season.
He said recently he'll do what's best for the side, and i believe that.

Pity the coaches wont.

What surpised me about your post is that the condescending smugness of the above is exceeded only by your failure to recognise it, as such.
The exalted Collingwood fan thinks we "can contend" (yeah?) because we're like Collingwood
but
not as good :confusedv1:.

Your Maths is deficient.
If we'd kicked 11.0 instead of 4.7, the most we could have been up by is 39 points, not 50.
HINT: use your fingers.

Yeah? None of us noticed that. Thanks.

So, what was it --- conditions, or poor execution? You want it both ways.
The conditions do not account for Thilthorpe's first shot at goal, nor O'Brien's panicked kick from 3m out to go ootf, nor Dawson hitting the post in the last.
ALL were poor execution.

Collingwood would have, right? :sneaky:
If only we had the time to perfect it, as Collingwood have (see above: "I like their game style, not dissimilar to Collingwood, it just takes time to perfect it") :confusedv1:.

It's clear you're not worried. Collingwood are the team to beat.

By "the contenders" you mean the teams who will challenge Collingwood for the 2025 Flag, right?
So, not Hawthorn, who beat us-who-are-capable-of-beating-you?
Not Brisbane, who won last year?

If only the Crows were as good as Collingwood, good enough to create that 2 game break... <<vomit>>

Likewise, right back atcha.
Please take your patronising analyses to your own Board who will appreciate your assumption that the Comp. has been reduced to who will play Collingwood for the Flag.

We'll worry about us, ok?
All good, I just wanted to point out that from the outside looking in, it is never as bad as it seems from the inside. You are good enough, maybe you all cannot see it from within, that's why I posted.

Yep the SUN appears to have set on Tex I'm afraid and whilst the conditions didn't suit he was a dead set liability. The problem is FOG seems to be in an extended form slump in recent times which isn't helping. It's getting to the point that Burgess likely offers more than Tex sadly.

Pity Toby Murray went down because he may well have been an option at this point.

The problem is that Nicks, with his penchant for older players and experience, will want to get Tex to 300 games this year (he has 9 to go) without thinking what impact it has on the team.

We saw it with the Murphy selection, earlier this week and year, and we will see it with Crouch as well when he is fit again.

All good, I just wanted to point out that from the outside looking in, it is never as bad as it seems from the inside.
Very fair reply, thanks :thumbsu:.

From the outside looking in, you will never see all of what we have seen "from the inside" since 2020 with Nicks.

You finished 17th in 2021 but McRae took you to 16 wins (4th) of which 11 were by less than 2 goals. I don't have to give more details after that. You know the rest.
That's great Coaching :thumbsupv1: :smilev1:.
By contrast, Nicks has been the losing-est Coach the Crows have ever had :sadv1:.

You've been blessed to have McRae who has terrific tactical nous and makes/Coaches excellent Game Day strategies and changes.
We've been cursed to have Nicks, who does not.
You are good enough, maybe you all cannot see it from within, that's why I posted.
"Good enough", to what? Play Finals? Win Finals? Go top?
If McRae was our Coach, I'd answer YES to all of those, maybe 2 or even 3 Flags in the next 4-6 years.

We have a much better list now; still need an A-Grade pure mid which might turn out to be Draper (if he is properly encouraged and developed).
It's what Nicks has done with that better list that troubles me.

Examples:
--- the three-tall-Forward line is great on fine, dry days, but Nicks sticks with them in the worst conditions for tall players; it's glaringly/obviously a poor tactic, but he makes no changes.
--- he selects spuds like Murphy when we have several talented younger players screaming for selection and development.
--- we led Port by about 5 goals and barely scraped in to win by 5 points. Under McRae, we would have gone on to win by 6,7,8 or more goals. Likewise the Brisbane game where we swept to the lead in the last on a 5-goal spree, then shut up shop to barely get home on the back of Brisbane's poor goalkicking.
--- your mob did us by 10 points. Reverse the Coaches = Reverse the result.
--- last night, the Crows took the lead in the last, then lost. Under McRae, no doubt we win that.
--- there are many more; mystifying selection, senior player favoritism, reluctance to adapt/change etc etc.

I won't be surprised if McRae wins you another Flag or two, soon. Half your luck!!

Anyway, Nicks is our problem, not yours. Don't even get me started on our Club Admin! :poov1:

We took 3 marks inside 50 for the game
= 3 talls on a slippery deck is the wrong Selection call, obvious after the first half.

Nicks might have redeemed himself if he subbed out Tex, and/or maybe moved Keays onto Impey, or subbed out Murphy,
ANYthing,
but NO.
He did more of the same, so we did more of the same and lost.
