Review R14: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. Hawthorn Hawks

Dear Matthew,
You could have just said that in one of your Pressers instead of going to the trouble of making a BF account and posting in here
OR
how about teaching your players some composure and determination under pressure so they kick better for goal, both set shots and snaps?

P.S. Tell RoB to stay out of the F50 and to spend zero time horizontal in packs; he's NOT a mid.
Stop going back to the Murphy well. It's dry, mate.
'Rest' or 'manage' Tex in wet or slippery conditions (forget about his 300, too --- if he's good enough he'll make it next year; if not, bad luck).
Get games into Taylor, Bond, Edwards, Dowling, Draper, prettyplease?
OR
(best option yet) accept your deficiencies and resign, to give a better Coach a chance with this group.
Cite "personal reasons"; we'll accept it. :sneaky:
😂 can just see an AFL coach signing up to BF for insights such as yours.

Poor bugger will end up with eye strain if he bothers to read the reams of gobbeldygook proferred by that particular poster.

We kick straight we win. The game should have been out of reach with the dominance we had in the first half. But we'll start after the bye in 4th possie and only play 3 top 8 teams on the run home, so I don't get the negativity here.

Ideally, it would be good if we could beat teams who are in the top 8, given those are the ones we'll have to play in the finals.

Hawthorn v Adelaide

10 Jarman Impey (HAW)
6 Dylan Moore (HAW)
4 Sam Berry (ADEL)
3 Izak Rankine (ADEL)
3 Jack Gunston (HAW)
2 Joshua Weddle (HAW)
1 Connor MacDonald (HAW)
1 Jordan Dawson (ADEL)

Gunston gets votes ahead of Keays?
Berry gets 4 votes ahead of Dawson?
What does ROB need to do to get a vote?
Impey had a perfect game? I agree he was BOG but 10 votes?

There's only so much ball to go around too.

Milera and Laird have gone back
Worrell becoming more prominent

There are more players sharing the rebounding load

As I've said repeatedly -

Laird gets too much of it.
Milera doesn't get enough of it.

That setup is not working.

Starting to see a theme here in our inability to shut down rebounding HB's, especially in losses/close games:

Impey 10 votes/Weddle 2 votes
J Berry 3 votes
J Daicos 10 votes/Howe 7 votes
Rozee 9 votes
D Rioli 7 votes/Uwland 5 votes
J Clark 3 votes

Tell me Murphy was on Impey.........
He was for much of the game.

It's a common occurrence that Murphy's opponent is BOG or thereabouts.

Opposition know they don't need to worry about defending him so just attack.

Numinous ,
I see you disagreed with the following:

All, or only some of it? eg re: Murphy's crazy selection? Getting games into our youth?

(I notice that a few others got the joke, just not you? :confusedv1: )

There seems to be a bit of a "if Laird calls for it then give it to him" attitude and I don't think Rory Laird has been in a position on the footy field where he didn't call for the ball.

Knew there would be a few excited people on here who love a good loss
Of course you're confused. Nobody loves a loss - we just hate having similar losses every time

But keep puffing your chest out about or offence

If both coaches think he's BOG, then he gets 10 votes. He was the clear standout player on the ground.

Good on Berry for top-scoring for us, pretty big turnaround considering he was seemingly on the certain delist pile only a two months ago!

Mind you, Berry top-scoring for us has a distinct "Douglas winning the B&F" vibe to it. If he's our best player, something has probably gone very wrong.

Berry might have been on your delist pile but plenty would disagree especially if Matt Crouch doesn't get back to his best....and anyhow Berry signed a 2 year contract in August 24 so he certainly wasn't on the club's delist pile.

He's very much needed for his inside grunt and two way running.

He's certainly proved his worth in the last two months, and particularly the last few weeks. It's the first time he's looked better than his 2022 form, as opposed to the last two years where he's struggled to even get close to that form.

Now we just need Pedlar to go through a similar career revitalisation.
