Bloody funny, but horribly true in so many ways.Kids these days are basically illiterate. Gen Z and Gen Alpha are the idiocracy generations. They'll be watering crops with Gatorade.
My last stint full-time teaching was 2011-2013 inclusive, but I've been tutoring Years 9 to Years 12 students in Maths and English over the last 15-20 years.
I'm amazed and horrified both at how little they actually know, how they've been trained to be tech-dependent and how much they (students and teachers) have outsourced active learning and memory processes to Calculators/laptops. Not all, but most.
I had Year 11 students reach for their Calculators to multiply 30 x 10. I kid you not.
I showed Year 10 students how to multiply by 25 (well, provided they knew their 4-Times-Tables). They thought it was amazing. Magic.
Their brains have become inactive, utterly unused and lazy.
There are plenty of examples like this online. Watch this (looks like Times Square NY):
or Ggogle "How smart are US College students?".
