Cameron/Knights/Menzel will just about be ready for AFL selection.

I'll say unchanged.

We weren't that bad last week and should've won the game. Because of this our selectors will back in the same 22 against a similar standard opponent. Regardless of the fact 3 or 4 guys were non events and senior players were poor.

Its not like the SANFL side spanked the reigning premiers or anything.......

I can see it working with

Talia - Dixon
Cheney - Schulz. Schulz got a lot of the ball up the ground, with minimal forward impact.

And let Hoff get his cheap possies up the ground, but never let him be loose in the forward line.


Everyone is worried about Dixon and Schulz, yet historically when Port win it is thier smalls hurting us. Wingard, Monfries and Gray that kick goals near the end of the game to hurt us.

With the drugcheat out that helps us a bit.


Lets not forget we beat them last year when Talia went down early. It was not Schulz or Ryder who were dangerous near the end. Ryder did SFA once Talia was out. It was Wingard, Gray and Boak that nearly beat us.

Each defensive option is a bit different and comes with risk. No risk with VB, we know exactly what he'll provide. Our selection culture regards reliability highly.

Geoffa is right, their small forwards cut us up time and again but in times gone by so has Charlie Dixon. Difference is he's never had enough around him to make a difference.

The issue with playing Talia, Lever and Hartigan is what happens when they play Westhoff up field and go with a small forward line (Gray, Wingard)? The beauty of someone like Jeremy McGovern is that he can cope on a genuine key forward, a resting ruckman and a mobile forward. Makes their defence very versatile.

Really feel like this is judgement day for the selectors. I know it's only round 2 but oh boy I reckon this is a big indicator of where there thinking is at.

I liked the boldness of picking guys like McGovern and Milera, we'll see if they can keep the faith.
