And yet we still had a chance to win easily by 6+ goals with 10 minutes to play in the 4th and more Port Power players playing well compared to our.
If we kept going and did win by 6 goals then the only real criticism comes from not guarding Rozee and Butters early - but we would allow that because we won

Then the blame is directed at the mistakes players made and the confusing umpiring and Nicks escapes nearly scott free

Forgot to mention Worrell.

What a game from him. Led both teams with R50's and Metres gained. Fierce in the contest and used it really well tonight.

Him and Keane really compliment each other.

At the beginning of the season - I had it between Keane and Butts for that 2nd tall. Keane has far surpassed him. Butts is the perfect replacement for Murray.
Worrell is consistently in our best 3 players

He’s AA top 40 level

Rankine was freakish when we needed him

And Keane / Laird were huge all game

Can't agree with too many - most teams would have run over Port - a mostly poor performance - Too many were absent for the whole game or at least half - Hinge, MicL, Dawson, Rankine, Soligo was so so, Rachelle - Keays started hot - maybe he should have tagged Butters? - Nicks final qtr PROVED HE CAN NOT COACH - at least he is the worst tactical coach going. Port were harder at the ball - had we matched that - comfortable win. Wasn't that good a game as many say. Been plenty better showdowns.

Moronic to think that Rankine didn’t help win us the game when it mattered

Goal assist to Rachele on half time when we were cooked

Ridiculous crumb and reflex handball to TT that then handballed to Fog to snap a classy goal , then kicks 2 goals in next 8 mins to give us the key to winning game

The soccer goal was crazy freakish

Basically class when the game was on line when we needed it X 4

Will not apologise to any one silly enough to think Rankine wasn’t important
Rankine is our most talented player and obviously stood up with two important goals in the last. That's exactly what my post said.

Problem is our most talented player only had about 6 good plays for an entire game and coughed the ball up on multiple occasions. Against good sides 2 goals in the last qtr won't matter.

You need to either watch the game again or give it up , find new hobbies etc

I mean, he’s stood up against great sides before, it’s barely a concern

Him and Thilthorpe won us the game

Nothing surer

Our defence kept us in it and those 2 won it
Weird game, those two + Peatling, Worrell and Keane carried us to the win IMO (ROB, Butts and Keays also good)

Quite a few that had a poor game otherwise. But that’s the beauty of having multiple match winners

Peatling v good re pressure and ground ball , amazing recruit

Worrell plays same every week , one of best defenders in comp

Keays 2nd half huge

Keane very good , been great most games

TT and Rankine match winners

ROB solid

We lost mid easily and won game , need to win mid and we could smash pies if so

Peatling up there with B Smith, Macrae and M Kennedy for recruit of the year

Two of our best mids (Dawson and Soligo) had very down games and we still won - don’t think that’s happened yet this year, for us

I would prob look at Soligo managed for a week after pies game

Draper in

Soligo doesn’t look as dynamic as early year

Still love him

Don't agree with Lairds game. Don't think he was huge at all.

Played a steady game with a couple of Laird howlers. Think he has been important across HB this season, but didnt rate his game.

You ready for Cumming to swap back to HBF yet or still wanting him to waste away on a wing.

I thought we were a bit cute all night and just expected our class to do the job. Very strange we didn't rotate the mids as much as we did last week, especially given how badly we were beaten at clearance. I waited all night for them to send Dawson forward (or back) to break the tag. Maybe they figured it was more advantageous to have Bergman in there as opposed to one of their better mids. A head scratcher.

That early patch early in the last was sublime, especially the Fog goal and the soccered Rankine goal. Only for the coaches to turn a likely 10 goal win into a 5 point win. What's the point of having the best forward line in the comp, especially one where RT looks unstoppable against one of the worst defenses, if you're afraid to bang it in there and trust them to win more contests than they lose?

We have the cattle to play a much more attacking brand of football, like we did against Carlton. It's time to play to our strengths and let the chips fall where they may. There's no way we beat Collingwood if we play it safe again. Hopefully those last 10 minutes were a wake up call that we can't afford to do it again.

We probably deserved to win against GC

Felt port completely outplayed us tonight and we got one back

Absolutely. IMO - we have played one bad game (Freo) and one bad quarter (4th against Geelong) all year.

I dont actually think we played that bad tonight. We had some bad patches, but Port showed up.

Port got smoked in round 1 by Collingwood and rebounded with a 72 point win the next week. They were heavy favs against the Saints and lost by 12 and came out firing and beat the Hawks by 30. They were insipid against the Doggies and were always going to come out absolutely firing. We held up and got the all important 4 points.
