Crazy weather. Hail has covered the roads in my area. How's the weather further up North Gasometer ?

Same as the past two months.

****ing shit.

If it keeps on raining we are heading towards August floods.

From Saturday morning to tonight I reckon the Goulburn has gone up 1.5 metres from what I can tell.

******* grueling viewing.

I just can't believe what I am seeing.

It's like the 1940's or something.

A system...if you call it that...that fails on every level.
And we are supposedly a civilized modern society.

FMD.

That was sickening to watch.

This is going to be big.

Very big.
I fail to see how this can be just brushed under the carpet by anybody involved in government.

Our human rights record is a national disgrace and it's beyond embarrassing.

It's shameful.

You mean the Government that shuts down dedicated communities?

They will weather whatever storm comes, make minor changes if really pushed, then the status quo will return.

Indeed.

I suspect we just watched our equivalent of the Rodney King bashing.

This is going to have massive repercussions.

Many of the Koori people I know, and have known over the past 20 years will be furious tonight.

If they are serious about genuine rehabilitation..................

They're just not.

You need look no further than the life expectancy of and Indigenous Australians and how appalling it is that they live in a 'developed' country and it is allowed to happen.

This is haunting me as I go to sleep

Within the context of the program he was on suicide watch. The N.T Government passed this technique as acceptable for use on juveniles. He has a history of being bastardised from the age of 13. The program shows various cctv incidents over his life of violent reprimands. I am sure it wasn't all a one way street and he probably retaliated with violence in a cycle that lasted his teen years...but we didn't see any examples of this.

He was tied into this chair for two hours before they returned.

I am not an expert on Prison and management of violent or suicidal prisoners.

But this is something I thought disappeared from our prison system in the 1970s.

Disturbing.

I didn't see 4 corners.

Sounds pretty full on. But... I think you're dreaming if you think any meaningful change is on the way.

Half the people watching or working in AFL football would think Lindsey Thomas and those kids both get what they deserve for the same or very similar reasons. Somewhere round the place I've got a copy of the report from the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. I think people in power in Australia read that report's recommendations as a guide of what not to do.

BTW That Dylan Voller (the kid strapped to chair in one of those articles) might not be aboriginal. Its a youth detention centre so not every kid is automatically gonna be a blackfella. Just most of them (it is the NT after all.) No kid of any race should be treated that way, even that 17 year old turns out to be a 185 cm angry shithead with authority issues who really knows how to fight. (Not saying DV is like that either. But a 17 year old in a detention centre can probably handle themselves and is in an environment where not being tough, aggro and very violent is asking for trouble.)

Woah. Thats the hstory of the kid I just mentioned.
