Back in the 90's English fans weren't as delusional as they knew how s**t they were. Nowadays they think they're better for some reason and heavily overrated Kane who has never been a top striker. This commentator made a reasonable comment it looks like.

No matter how delusional they are Kane will always be remembered as another guy who fluffed it on the big stage like Waddle, Southgate, Beckham, Carragher.
Good call. Players who fail in the knockout stages of world cups are the worst. Separates then men from the boys. Beating up on secondary opposition in qualifiers or soft games in the group stage/penalties but when it comes to knockout games the real men come to the fore and the self absorbed, borderline psychopaths get sent home after having no impact on the match.

Imagine having a long and illustrious career but being a pathetic failure in 5 World Cups.

Any games against San Marino coming up to feast on?

You mean Portugal who had the most success ever during CR7 reign in their history + the guy who scored in 5x World Cups and better than any English player that's ever lived? Haha

Actually even Portugal a small nation was better than England the whole time CR7 was playing. Further prove my point

He scored against the might of Hungary and Wales when Portugal
won the Euro’s - on the back of their defence which was excellent after not winning any of their three group stage matches and still qualifying. But do remember him making everything about himself on the sidelines in the final.

Scoring in individual world cups? Wowee. Better than performing and scoring in knockout matches against good sides.

Mbappe has scored in 2 World Cup‘s and has more World Cup goals than Ronaldo. So Ronaldo’s World Cup scoring record isn’t anything to write home about.

Better record than any English player in history. How funny that Portugal shits all over England during CR7's reign. England had a golden generation too but unfortunately nothing quite like the golden boy CR7.

Guy with zero records in the best European team vs the only player in history to score in 5, interesting comparison. How about United winning the CL and English titles to becoming Liverpool after he left. :D

I grew watching football with Motty as commentator. He was on the nerdy side but you could tell he had a genuine love for the game. RIP

John Motson's passing was awfully sad and sudden. In one obituary I read, it was revealed that Motson suffered a fall in the week or so before he passed away.

In that same obituary, there was a story Motson's attention to detail ahead of the 1988 FA Cup Final when Wimbledon famously beat Liverpool to deny the reds the double. Motson was at Wimbledon training and spent time with their keeper Dave Bessant. Motson told Bessant that no goal keeper had saved a penalty in the cup final and asked Bessant where he would dive if John Aldridge took a penalty for Liverpool. Bessant told Motson he would dive to his right. In the build up to John Aldridge taking the penalty Liverpool had been awarded, Motson told those watching on the BBC what Bessant told him at Wimbledon training. As it turned out, Aldridge's penalty went to Bessant's right, he saved the penalty and Wimbledon hung on to win 1-0.

Prediction: As ESPN in the US have lost the MLS rights, Jon Champion will be back calling Premier League games from the start of next season.

Compared to Jamie Carragher, Jim Beglin was very restrained when Liverpool scored against Manchester United at Anfield.

Carragher was sitting right next to Neville though. Part of their shtick is to wind each other up.

Jim Beglin with Conor McNamara is a different dynamic.
