I'm not listening to this but I assume someone on there is going to try and tell me that Clayton is better than Judd?
Cousins, Judd and Cox have Petracca, Oliver and Gawn covered by enough.

whoever is the third best mid from Melbourne. Viney? Brayshaw? Isn’t fit to hold Kerr’s jockstrap.

And we also had AA Chad Fletcher and 200 gamer Michael Braun running around.

Laughable to think Melbourne comes close. Geelong's 07-11 group is also better than Melbourne. Same with Brisbane's threepeaters.

Melbourne's is more comparable to our 2018 side and has nothing on our 06 side.
I think Melbourne is very similar to our 2018 side but their forwards are much weaker. I'm very optimistic that we can beat their game style in 2022 if we get our act together. We could have some good games against them next season.

I meant the midfield but yes we have a way better forward setup.

I think we match up well.

Our biggest advantage against Melbourne is that it's one of the few games where Max gets beaten. It causes Melbourne all sorts of problems as a result. They're not as good when he's not giving the mids first use and racking up touches of his own.

Also why we struggle against the dogs. Their mids are used to their rucks losing the tap and have great clearance mids.

I see it as being a similar enough side to ours in 06 but where a lot of their players are downgrades. Or at least they are too early in their careers to be compared to our side in ‘06 which I think was considerably more experienced than Melbourne’s side.

Petracca and Oliver could end up being the comps best two mids but it’s just as likely they regress a bit.

it’s hard to compare though because we literally played like 14 midfielders. Ironically the specialist medium forward in Fritsch is the main difference between the sides and unsurprisingly he was almost BOG. If 2006 WC had 2009 Le Cras we would have destroyed Sydney.

This is the same problem I felt we've had with Nic Nat the last two seasons. We just assume we will win the taps, but when we don't, we get smashed.

We came close to destroying them anyway in 2006 GF - we lead by 30 points in the first half. I think fatigue really set in after losing the qualifying final and having to play 4 weeks in a row (last two away). Watching the last quarter, some of our good runners could barely move at times (Cousins, Kerr).
