Oh dear 😂😂

If we had 7 games in a row at home I’d guarantee we would finish first or second at a minimum. Especially if those seven games were at the back end of the season where fatigue, injury and general wear and tear is at its highest.

But hey, if you think it is a fair competition then more power to you. Or u I should say.
When did I say it was fair?
Sure its nice to play home every week but the team still needs to perform on game day, which Richmond delivered for 12 consecutive weeks. They deserve this cup as much as we did last year.

The worst thing is, exceptional circumstances aside, Richmond will finish on top next season as well.

The only player they can expect to lose from the squad that played today is B.Ellis.

Otherwise Rance will return; whilst Stack, Ross, Graham, McIntosh, Balta, Higgins, Butler, Naish and Collier-Dawkins will continue to improve them organically.

And in recent times, the more success that Richmond get, the more they are rewarded the next season:

Just wait for it - the Tigers will get 14 regular season MCG matches in 2020 and 18 in Victoria overall; with their only trips outside of Victoria post-bye will be to visit the Swans and Gold Coast.

The advantage they are currently receiving for being a profitable MCG tenant is undermining the premise that this is a competition at all.

So

At what stage did you turn off?

5 mins into the 3rd for me. Nap time
Was snoozing in and out during the 3rd, shut the laptop down at 3QT. Can't believe I got up at 5.30 to watch that!
Take me back to last year- drunk by 8am watching live, back to an Aussie pub at 11am to watch the replay, then back home again to re-watch. Now I just feel empty.

They certainly deserve the cup, clearly were the best performer side throughout the second half of the season and in September.
But the fact is that the seven consecutive games at the MCG to finish the season was blatantly unfair in a supposed “national” competition. Easy to deliver performances on match day when you haven’t had to travel, have a strong routine with consistent 7 and sometimes 8 day breaks. So well done Richmond, they certainly used the gifts that were given to them with great effect!

These kind of posts piss me off.

The squad was clearly hungry enough to win the flag last year, did they not?

It took a shock prelim loss in 2018 to spur on the reigning premiers at the time, who is to say our shock loss to Hawthorn in the last round wouldn't spur us on too?

You can't win all the flags, but given recent history I'd back us to be at the pointy end again sooner rather than later.

They piss you off? Maybe it might piss of the players enough so they don't pull out of contests next year?

On topic, though, Richmond are deserved premiers. They finished 3rd partially because their form was inconsistent at the start of the year, sure their dream run at the MCG helped, but some forget they still travelled in the first week of finals to a top 2 side and did the business.

The competition was very even this year, as usual the team that rocked up in September and not May took the biscuits. Them's the breaks.
As much as it hurts, I think most on here would agree they're the deserved premiers.

But as others have said, the armchair ride they were given at the end was a huge help.
Kane Cornes said "ït is the biggest free kick in the comp".
I tend to agree.

I agree too. It would be interesting to see how that Richmond side goes traveling every second week. They wouldn't know what's hit them.

VFL GF written all over it..Richmond had everything in their favour

home ground
crowd
umpires
commentary
less travel
less finals
free agents galore (dont kid yourself its a system designed to benefit Vic teams)
playing a team who finished 6th, travelling for the 3rd week in a row and their 1st GF

knew it was going to be a blowout all week

Yeah I don't think anyone isn't saying Richmond are a good team. its just that when they are good they can really capitalise on that advantage they get. It would be nice as soon as we were a decent team to get home finals against other teams and should we make it through the GF on our home ground. With a majority of the crowd a the "neutral" GF being from our club.

Where did that bs come from , Richmond played 13games at the mcg , coll 14 , wtf 18

This GF is hard to watch because we know that if we were in it then we would have absolutely put up a contest.

2019 sucks

Ditto four other teams.

Absolutely, while everyone else gets a tough draw or a draw that relates (?) to their finish..they locked in the MCG GF/50 yr thing for a reason..money, profit, tourism obviously..while Optus state of the art stadium and the proposition of interstate GF's fired out a warning signal to Melbourne's major AFL manipulators, hence the investment and upgrading of Melbourne stadiums and all things local footy. Make no mistake, it will never be equal or decentralised or truly a national game -and we are all just grist for the mill. We are just pawns or tokenism to the big picture. Sure we get our feel good moments every now and again, but nothing stands in the way of the Vic cartel machinations!(it's a goddamn conspiracy bigger than Area 51, a vortex as mysterious as the Bermuda Triangle! I dunno, it's just clearly not a level playing field and as a national comp, that is just so, so wrong, on all levels! Yet big outer state clubs comply to this cartel, when they have the fiscal clout to help change things-even a little, why don't outer Vic clubs band together? ....Ok, I'm naive and there's lots of things I don't know or understand...and I've sunk a few red wines and I'm not happy with the state of the game.(i'm sure I'll regret this t'moro)(yes, I admit I so wanted the Giants to break Vic hearts)
