We've been shitting the bed on big occassions for 4 years at least. Even jlos one finals win was a big comeback after shitting our pants. No one has seemed to learn much at all

1000% this! Ryan taking kick ins is a joke.

Every other club has a proper good ball user taking kick ins. Saints use NAS, Giants use Whitfield.

It needs to be Clark, or Young when he returns, or Simpson when he comes back from injury.

Every player has been potted on this thread, yet the regular sooks are sooking it up on the Coaches thread.

Apparently the coach is ****ing up this A grade list, but every player is crap according to this thread. 8 points in a row to start a game, decision making that has to be seen to be believed, execution as poor as it’s been. The players well & truly shat the bed on this one.

Both can be true… the players sucked, but ask yourself how a team can come that unprepared for the biggest game of the year?

It’s not simply the players, it’s also the coach not preparing them accordingly or making the right in game tactical decisions.

Voss’s game was compromised to keep Harris-Andrews quiet

Yet we did the same thing with Voss on Weitering in the Carlton game in the 1st half and it didnt work.

I am perplexed if we did that plan again.

When he played on Moore he just beat him being aggressive and playing the ball.
Andrews is a lot better than Moore sure, but sacrificing Voss’ attacking ability just to try and stop Andrews was a waste.

Not calling for JLo to be sacked - the development of a lot of our players has been awesome. But his conservatism with game style and team selection can sometimes cost us the extra 1% we need to beat the best.
And of course we still don’t have a midfield that is deep and skilful enough to compete with - not just the best - but good midfields. I’ll say it again, last year was the time we should have gone to a strong draft instead of trading in Bolton. Our squad wasn’t at the stage where it just needed the cherry on top. Still needed a bit more cream. My question is, where do we get that from now?
This squad might plateau as a very good team, but not a premiership team. A western bulldogs of the 90s and 00s.

Very clear we’re missing another A grade mid (as well as young) plus another quick rebounding defender imo.
Can’t be Serong & Clark or bust

Spot on, preparation is JLos achillies heel, though im sure he will say their prep was excellent. He turns up expecting to play his best brand of football which is not the same as playing to defeat the 22 men opposite. It's lazy and it had us chasing shadows for the first 20 minutes of the game wondering why things were going so badly.

That game had us kick ourselves out of it by so much, while bottling them right up and winning lots of turnover before giving it straight back - barely scoring at all that by the time the end came around we were so far away from a sniff of victory the energy was sapped from the side.

We can't expect to win finals missing set shots like that, players should be making those kicks and not looking to pass it off so often - but Brisbane's pressure there was great.

The mark and play on about 5m out was just deflating. We had more than their measure for a large part of that game where without the whistle they wouldn't have scored much at all, but we just couldn't kick a score either.

Our style can match it with them, but our forward half let us down.

Watched the Game at the pub.
Didn't listen to the commentary.

I saw Brisbane play with finals like desire.
SOme terrible umpiring gifting the Brions an early lead.
Some yips in front of goal from our boys.

Also saw a lot of desire from our side.
They just couldn't hold their nerve.

Seasons not over yet.
And as much as I love Fyfe.
I am happy he won't be there next year.
He hasn't offered much for 5 years now & it's time for the next generation to take us forward.

Tonight was a lesson that we will learn from.

Anyhoo how good is it that South Freo are playing finals again this season???

More than anything I think it showed up our lack of good ball users. We need players with good kicking skills off half back/wing to replace the likes of Banfield/NOD. Maybe Simpson can develop, but we probably need to trade in at least one more.

Oh and can anyone tell me why when we started to sink in the 3rd why Fyfe wasn’t subbed on?
To have him run on 10 minutes in the crowd would have gone nuts, players maybe lifted.
Instead we get no fanfare, slips on quietly at the break, wins it from the center, gives to Erasmus who kicks it straight back to Brisbane, air goes out of the game.

So much this. Was thinking at the time just put him on.

Ok wouldn't have made a difference in the end but just such an obvious coaching move.
