If Banfield gets a game next week sack the entire match committee

The year is 2046. Bailey Banfield is being selected for his 600th game, and despite being in and out of the side for 30 years, head coach Justin Longmuir (who just missed finals again for the 19th year straight but maybe next year will be his year) is trialling him as a makeshift ruckman in place of Sean Darcy Jr because even though he failed as a half forward, a half back, a winger, and a tagger, maybe this will be his position.

Lost in all of this, Brisbane are very good.

A pathetic white flag performance from a club with a history littered with white flag performances.

That was late 2024 levels of mental fragility on display tonight and really feels like we’ve somehow undone 3 months of hard work in 1 game. One of the biggest games in our clubs history and we dish up that.

Now it all relies on us to beat the Dogs at Marvel next week and I have no faith in us doing that. They’ve won 13 of their last 15 games there and their mids will destroy ours.

159-61 marks is just so pathetic. It was clear all night they were trying to take the heat out of the game with their uncontested chip mark game and our players couldn’t even be f*cked to man up.

Banfield played one of the all time worst games last week and we still had people defending his selection this week. And then he manages to back it up with an even worse game. Not to single him out because there were many tonight ranging from passengers to liabilities, but it goes to show a complete lack of selection integrity.

Same that happened with Geelong. Trying to come back from too much that you have to roll the dice and hope everything goes perfect. It doesn’t and you tire yourself out and leak goals at the end.

I'm still trying to get my head around the go slow when we were 5 goals down.

I think most of us rusted ons, knew deep down that non-supporters were getting ahead of themselves. There were many signs throughout the year and in our recent wins - where we just got over the line, instead of having comfortable wins or belting teams.

Our midfield doesn’t match it with the best, our forward line isn’t consistently performing and we don’t really have wingers that are complete players. And while I thought the Fyfe fairytale could have been a thing, it’s not. Injuries to players like young and Simpson, came at the wrong time, and not sure why Walker wasn’t considered best 23.
