Richmond have to host a 'home' game at Marvel Stadium this weekend, and wow are they are unhappy about it.

No reason it can't be a Hawthorn home game each year, or one year MCG, one year GMHBA. The country game is breaking new barriers this year, no reason easter monday couldn't either.

Just coz the Melbourne teams forfeited their home grounds (Richmond take the cake here, doing so in the 60s lol), doesn't mean we should too. Looking forward to stage 5, then the away fans will see what the home members have been enjoying for the past 20 years.
What the feck is the country game? And what barrier is it breaking?

When the VFL introduced Waverley Park back in the 70s and extended the season to 22 rounds, teams have been playing 'home' games at neutral venues.

I am sure the Hawks would love to keep the gate at the G for every public holiday game

Collingwood are contractually bound to play two "home" games at Marvel each year.

Do Richmond supporters know if they're subject to a similar arrangement?

Is some of this offset by having Essendon ‘host’ Collingwood at the MCG?

And Essendon and Geelong ‘host’ Richmond at the MCG as well.

What is going on here?!?!?

Almost as if you are discovering the huge leg up the non-Melbourne teams get by actually retaining home grounds.

Melbourne teams are just split around to ensure games are played at respective venues, and have lost any advantage they previously enjoyed.

I’ve always acknowledged non-Melbourne teams advantage in the ‘H&A’ season, just as I’ve acknowledged the Melbourne based teams advantage in the finals season.

What I failed to recognise was that when MCG tenants gave up games to play at Docklands, these games were offset by being hosted by a Docklands tenant at the MCG.

It is then odd that Geelong don’t get a make up game as the ‘away’ team at Kardina to make up for hosting at the MCG during the ‘H&A’ season.

So it’s happened since the 1970s? And the two traditional non-Victorian footballing states have teams tenanted in a neutral ground as well? The only teams that retain a stand alone home ground are Geelong, Brisbane, GC, Sydney and GWS.

What an injustice, hopefully Gil is listening and fixes this mess up ASAP.
Geelong's home ground is much more of an advantage because no one is familiar with it and it has a strange shape.
Some players at Geelong have played over 100 games on the MCG.
