RIP Neil Kerley

As a Victorian always thought of knuckles as SA’s Ted whitten. Seemed like a real man’s man.
They were telling a story on SEN this morning that he was boundary rider for a crows game in the 90’s, someone went down behind play and they threw to knuckles to comment on it. He said “I saw what happened but I’m not telling you who hit him”
Classic stuff.
RIP knuckles.
Something you may enjoy.

Apologies if posted on here already.

RIP Mr. Football.

One who should have been an inaugural Legend in the Hall of Fame and has still not been elevated, now another one left too late.

Everyone always tee's off with this stuff, but who would you have replaced? There's a % criteria and there's already enough "legends" imo.

So who of the below should have he replaced?

Darrell Baldock
Ron Barassi
Kevin Bartlett
Malcom Blight
Hayden Bunton
Barry Cable
Roy Cazaly
John Coleman
Gordon Coventry
Jack Dyer
Russell Ebert
Polly Farmer
Royce Hart
Peter Hudson
Bill Hutchison
Alex Jesaulenko
John Kennedy Snr
Tony Lockett
Leigh Matthews
Jock McHale
Merv McIntosh
Kevin Murray
John Nicholls
Jack Oatey
Bob Pratt
Dick Reynolds
Barrie Robran
Kevin Sheedy
Bob Skilton
Norm Smith
Ian Stewart
Ted Whitten

Always thought, based on stats and accolades that Cazaly did not seem worthy of "Legend" status.

At least more significant than Baldock, Cazaly, Coleman, Hart, Jesaulenko, Kennedy, Nicholls, Pratt

He was of similar ilk of Ted Whitten or Kevin Sheedy when it comes to influence over the game in SA.

He is part of a group of what should be walk-up starts to the Legend category, particularly when comparing with the Victorians who have been given preferential treatment.
Neil Kerley = EJ Whitten
Ken Farmer > John Coleman, Gordon Coventry, Bob Pratt
Fos Williams & John Cahill > John Kennedy, Norm Smith
Bill Walker > Ian Stewart

Thankfully in recent years they have rectified Barrie Robran, Jack Oatey, Merv McIntosh & Russell Ebert

Tool South Adelaide from spooners to premiers in his 1st season coaching there in 64.

Haven't won 1 since.
Gutted to hear the passing of the great Neil Kerley.

Long suffering south fans will always remember the heroics of Kerley and the great David Kantilla

Always thought, based on stats and accolades that Cazaly did not seem worthy of "Legend" status.

You cop it from many for suggesting it but… Baldock’s record is freaking laughable as a supposed “legend” of the game.

I think being the sole premiership skipper at a club lends him a hell of a lot of mystique. And it feels like a bit of tokenism for Tassie.

He twice finished second in the Brownlow so could obviously play… but an all time legend of the sport? Wow.

A little known story about Neil Kerley.

When Ian Chappell and his SA cricket team went on strike against the South Australian Cricket Association over team selection and the way cricket was run in SA in 1975-76, it was Kerley who rang Chappell and reminded him about his responsibilities to SA, and also the ramifications if the strike went ahead.

any of them coached 3 different perennial underachievers/losers to premierships when state leagues were at their strongest?
