Dusty best big game player of his generation. Been a pleasure watching him, and particularly in finals. No one will match his grand final record. Three incredible games of footy on the biggest stage. #Dusty300

Tigers 2024 ruined with injuries. Great club that will be climbing the ladder again soon I’m sure.

Disappointing. Losing is no surprise but I thought we would be better.

My partner (not a Tigers (or footy) fan) says what she hears me say/shout most every week is "FFS Shai".

I found myself saying three or four more of them today as well.

Probably three smothers on him today, which is not surprising given his huge windup for every kick. Can't he kick a bit quicker instead of the over exaggerated telegraphed kick?

Please now give Kane Mac a start from now on. He is the future and better than plenty out there.

I'm thinking Hawks can make finals and I wouldn't be surprised if they did a lot better than that.

Someone needs create a Hawks jumper with a duck replacing the Hawk.
Show pony - needs to take the first option and stop worrying about his highlight reel....

Biggest crowds for a VFL/AFL player's 300th game:

93,436 - Scott Pendlebury (2019 QF)
92,311 - DUSTIN MARTIN (R14, 2024)
84,745 - Justin Madden (R14, 1995)
72,216 - Tony Shaw (R9, 1994)
71,767 - Stephen Silvagni (R11, 2001)
70,345 - Luke Hodge (R17, 2017)
That Justin Madden game was Blues v Bombers and their ladder positions were 1st and 2nd, so top of the table fixture.

What about your man Cumberland? 🤔
it was a tough night at the office, he got caught out of position a few times (as did nearly our whole team) and made a couple of weak attempts at spoiling. Not his night and we really didnt improve when he left the field. hawthorn took their foot off the gass last quarter.

PS the ball was flying and bouncing the right way for the hawks tonight, they made their own luck and were positive and composed nearly all game.
They also have 4+ years more development than us and it showed.

That ending was what I wanted to see. Dusty acknowledged the fans first and then worried about the media, and Fox was smart sending Jack down.

Positives:
  • Vlastuin and Taranto were good. Ralphsmith has shown improvement.
  • Dusty reaching 300 games, such a fantastic and decorated career.
  • 92K turnout! Exceeded my expectations!
  • Honestly liked Mansell’s game today. Want to see more games like the last couple of weeks.

With the negatives, there were so many today:

- If this is the best we can do with our named 22 in Dusty’s 300th, then I have given up hope on seeing anything good things this season. If a win-loss record of 2-11 with a percentage in the 60s prior to this game didn’t do it, then this did it. An insipid performance by a group of players that I know could have done better.

- Yet another sub-50 scoreline despite having 19 scoring shots. Our offensive game is by far the worst in the league, and Yze + other coaches responsible have to investigate why. They also need to look at why our players just stop at the cusp of the 50 and wait until our 50 is flooded. There were a couple of times where we stopped at the 50 line and went backwards despite having advantage inside 50. We didn’t get a goal in neither of those passages. Also, the amount of misses in front of goal is concerning. That terrible goal-behind ratio needs to be addressed.

- Short, Dow, and Cumberland were terrible. Sonsie and Bolton weren’t that great either. McIntosh, Baker, and Miller were down. There are just so many players to name that weren’t good today.

I’m very disappointed by the playing group today. They don’t disappoint us this badly very often nowadays, but today was one of those days.

We're rubbish . Not going to win too many games with Dow, Sonsie, Cumberland, Mansell , Kosi, JGTI, Short and even KMAC although he's been ok. Too slow , no gut running, poor tackling and no spring in our legs. Just a team full of wombats atm.

💯 - and 💖 the “wombat” description!

Unpopular opinion; Jack was shit, asked about 3 questions too many. Dusty didn't want it, we didn't need it. And to throw the family shit in their too, shit all round.

I cant believe they kept louie after 2023

what a cok up by the club and disservice to the playing group and a new coach

Taranto excellent.
Nank gets the choccies against one of the in form rucks of the comp.
Vlastuin good.
Short back in some decent form.
Kosi was pretty good as 2nd ruck. Will benefit massively when Lynch is firing.
Rioli never gave up.

Cumberland horrendous. Mental midget.
Dow is a pretend footballer.
you're very short sighted mate. we were smashed at centre half forward, which BTW ive been calling out for weeks now and we cant do a thing about it. dont blame cumbo, coaching staff cant find a functioning set up forwards of the centre, what did Shai bolton do and everyone else?

I wasn’t expecting to win the game, but that’s as poor an effort as we’ve put in all year. Extremely disappointing considering the occasion.

Nevertheless a great turn out by the Tiger Army and how fitting for Dusty to kick the first goal of the match. Interview post game with Jack was awesome.
