Mate ... watching the Tigers ... made me think ... for the first time in a long tome ... this is what we used to do to teams.
I had exactly same thought a couple of times today

  • Only excuse for O'Meara today is if he's carrying an injury was a piss poor performance, was constantly running in second gear after opponents.
  • Either one of Koschitzke and O'Brein need to make room for Lewis, just no aerial contest in our forward 50.
  • Brockmen was caught ball watching a few times today, not from being lazy or selfish ect but being submissive to the senior players in our team, he's gonna click very soon when he gain that confidence.
  • Jiath, Frost and Hardwick were dman good damn good, out played the Richmond forward line.

Wasn't expecting to win to be honest, but was frustrated with the fumbles, turnovers and how many Richmond players were running around unmanned.

Still some positive signs from some of the youngin's like Kosi, Brocky and CJ.

Blake Hardwick doesn’t get enough credit

Great to be back at the G hearing and seeing the sea of gold, even if there wasn’t a whole lot to cheer about.

Tigers a class above us as to be expected, didn’t help ourselves with our decision making and poor handling/execution but that is more or less where we are at.

Glad the boys fought it out until the end and CJ has officially arrived. Kosi did some nice things and there is no doubt that Brockman belongs. Thought Frost was solid and Howe played one of his better games.

That’s the benchmark. Let’s see how quickly we can close the gap.

We have the makings of a rock solid defence that has firepower to start attacking chains. Young group that will grow to be the core of our next premiership side.

Just need to figure the middle and the forward line out. Easier said than done.

Not too shabby. I think with some consistency there is enough to be hopeful of a decent year.

CJ is getting too much love. Had a fair bit and showed some brilliant moments but he directly cost us 4 goals at critical times. I said before that a few clangers are fine with what he offers offensively but he killed us in the first half and we didn’t recover. Squashed any momentum at critical stages.

1 player to get a pump up and that’s Brockman. Apart from natural progression the only thing he needs to fast track is some mongrel. If this kid got mad he would be lethal.

Our midfield are plodders. Mitchell, Jags and Shiels looked completely off the pace. I don’t know how this dynamic remains. Worps didn’t have the best game but he needs to be let off the leash as the 1st guy at the ball.

There has to be a better way to get some speed through the middle otherwise it will be a very long year watching the boys chase arse.

Impey is going to be immense if he can continue to build.

Same here.

The pressure, and also the pinpoint zoning that made us unsure of our short kicks

Actually not disappointed with the loss.
We were wasteful going forward which blew the scoreboard out, but Richmond weren't good around the ground, and that was our work that did it.

Those potting obrien - again - delivery to forwards is important
Delivery was poor but he didn’t compete well enough to bring it to ground.

Cant play 2 rucks when we don't have a marking fwd FFS!! Lewis has to play this week.

Give em the cup now. They are next level.

We tried but couldn’t handle the pressure. Then just let them walk it through our defence all of the last quarter.

Brockman a gun.
CJ settled and will be elite.
Hardwicks best game for the club.
Phillips can't kick.
Morrison improving.
Impey getting fit.
Day had good patches.
Ollie not up to it.

Some parting of the clouds moments.

Need Chad this week.

TOB, Hanrahan and Ceglar all out. Burgoyne should be out too and Worpel has to be on notice, he's been average (at best) for a long time now.

If Day doesn't get up and Wingard is fit then Scrimshaw, Lewis, Downie, Wingard and Greaves in for those five.

Thought the intensity and effort was there and the defensive pressure was also good.

Poor skills from implied pressure was awful
Some tape watching needed by CJ but again can’t fault his effort
Thought Howe was good as was Frosty
Brockman did some good thinks

More disappointed in some senior players than anything else

onto next week - another tough one

On a side note, it Would be nice if occasionally the hawks could get a soft start to the season in the same way some of these top sides do

He'll always have a injury.

He can never back it up two weeks in a row - time we just accepted it and only play him every other week if we're not going to trade him.

Average performance in the context of what could have been achieved. Lost at selection not playing Lewis, effort was really admirable but clearly we got under their skin last year by being direct to Patton. Pitiful match committee not thinking we could be as direct. One that got away because we made them look good.

lol there’s no way in hell we make 5 changes on today’s effort.
