I think it will be Gill for Trent, Shriley for Knights and Stevens for Bock. Although we were no where near our best on friday night i am still confident of a relatively easy win this week and although some media identities want to write Adelaide off already i think we will be fine and still win our fair share of games and make the top 8

Knights - Symes
Hentschel - Gill
Bock - Stevens

As much as I don't think Gill should be playing, he is there for injury backup and that is what our team is facing. If he is to play, I'd want him to roam 45-70 metres out or to the wings grabbing marks and putting the ball in the forward 50 for Walker, Tippett and crumbers to have a go.

I don't want him to become to focus in the forward line.

Shirley is stiff, but if we were playing a different team, I would have him in. I mean Palmer and Hase are their only real in and under players and I'd be highly disappointed if our boys couldn't best them in that area.

I found this in an article about Tippett on the official site:

The unlucky Hentschel will undergo another procedure on his troublesome knee, this time to remove debris floating in the joint.

His absence could open the door for unpredictable forward Nick Gill, who dominated for North Adelaide on Saturday. Scott Stevens (hamstring) is also a chance to resume.

Perhaps this means the likelihood of Gill coming in is higher now that it's actually written down?? Maybe... Just my thought process.

brent-83, I like your selection choices. That's what I'm hoping for. Or even Shirley in there somewhere. I think we ARE missing him a bit. He's underestimated as a player. I remember him doing very well on Judd last year.

The Club doesn't write that though, so it means as much as Rucci predicting selection changes.

I really hope Griffin comes in, I just think his experience against Sandilands will help in lessening his impact and Tippett can stay up forward the whole match.

Gill is too much of a backward movement for my liking as I can't see him as a cornerstone in our future plans.

Yep,

If Stevo doesn't get up then get Sellar in.

If Stevens is up:

Hentchell OUT Griffin IN
Bock OUT Stevens IN
Knights OUT Symes IN (Can see Cook coming in as well)

If Stevens is still under a cloud Moran would probably get the nod ahead of Sellar. I'd be dissapointed if Gill came in but he does add flexibility.

Out: Bock, Knights, Hentshel
In: Gill, Stevens, Symes.

While I am sympathetic for the need to bring in Griffin to counter Sandilands I really think at Subiaco you really need a strong, mobile forward who is relentless in their presentation. Gill would be the only fit one on our list who fits that category.

I would play us something like this:

FB: Otten Rutten Johncock
HB: Mcleod Stevens Symes
C: Reilly Thompson Mackay
HF: Goodwin Gill Edwards
FF: Walker Tippett Porplyzia
1R: Maric Van Berlo Vince
INT: Doughty Douglas Dangerfield Petrenko

Would consider playing Griffin or Moran(more flexible but less deserved) in place of one of the Doughty/Douglas/Symes trio but am reluctant.

ill team looks slightly on the small side with only stevens/otten/rutten in the backline.. think we need moran/sellar in as another option..

fremantle would most likely play pavlich/mcpharlin/campell (or/and murphy) with sandilands drifting forward

Stevens, Gill, Symes

Surely they are the 3 most obvious selections.
I cant believe how many people have written Gill off. Has no one learnt from players such as Bock. People were calling for him to be delisted and now apparently its the end of the world if he doesn't play. Gill is a great lead up target and offers structure. With Gill playing out at CHF and roaming up onto the wings, it will create so much space for players like Tippet, Walker, Porps to work in.

Would be interserting to see a player like Danger be rested up forward at times, I could imagine he would be quite a handful.

Gill is as old as Bock, can't kick and goes missing. Don't get me wrong, i'm not bagging him out (may seem like it htough) but why give that spot to a 26 year old, instead of a 22/23 year old ruckman who has had equaly strong performances in the SANFL.

This also allows Tippett to go forward instead of back up rucking.

Because i'm after a workhorse leading forward rather than a stay at home FF and second ruckman?

I would actually like to see Gill and Sellar to come in this week, with Gill in normal position and Sellar either playing on Tarrant or forming a 2 and 2 tall forward combination. The later option I would like to see, Gill and Sellar roaming across CHF with Tippett/Maric and Tex in the forward 50. This will prevent Freo playing a tall forward line themselves and having Mcpharlin or Tarrant down back. I was actually really quite shocked earlier when I saw Gill has onyl played 16 games. Did Henschtel look like anything after 16 games, or Bock or Stevems for the matter!!!

One of the significant aspects last week was our reluctance to kick forward. Whilst some of that was St Kilda, a fair amount of that was because the players had no confidence in any targets around the 50-80 area. Imagine if we had Gill and Sellar up there to kick to, even if they don't mark it they provide a target for our guys to poach off.

That would leave only Symes or Cook to come in.

Al of the above assumes Stevens will nto pull up fit.

If Stevens is fit, leave out Sellar.

Moran could be an option rather than Sellar as well.

So
OUT
Henschtel, Bock, Knights

IN
Gill, Symes, Sellar/Stevens/Moran

OUT: Hentschel (inj), Knights (inj), Bock (susp)
IN: Gill, Symes, Stevens
EMG: Moran, Cook, Shirley
...Moran will come in if Stevens is not fit...and Cook will just miss out...while Shirley remains out of the team purely because there is no one player to tag in Freo.

Out: Bock, Hentschell, Knights

In: Stevens, Gill, Cook

IMO Cook would be well suited to the bigger ground over there and deserves his spot after his preseason and round 1 game. This gives another young player valuable & deserved game time. (If it were me, i'ld even be trying to squeeze Jacky into the side).
If not Cook, then i guess Symes is next if fully fit. I dont see a spot for Shirley yet - we dont need a tagger yet and his attacking skills are less than Cook's. Some say that we were smashed in the midfield last week and hence we need him, however, IMO yes we were smashed but the problem was not getting the ball out of the 1st pack (Shirley's strength) but more that we could not subsequently get the ball to a free player due to the Saints pressure. Perhaps we should have tried a blind kick forward instead of continually playing ring a ring a rosy and eventually coughing it up. Often our players did not even look forward to see if there was a kicking option (even if 1 on 1) - our first instinct was to handball.

I cant see the point of playing 2 pure ruckmen (Maric, Griffin) even with Sandilands there - i think those days are gone and in any case Maric & Tippett can more than handle the job.

This is Walker's big opportunity over the next month to really impose himself - i think he has been rather "timid" in his approach so far (timid in the sense of holding himself back and deferring to more senior forwards), however, he has shown signs of being that imposing forward that he is despite his youth.

Symes
Griff
Stevens

In

Walker to CHF - let him run around and get himself involved.
Tippett at FF

Lead up CHF is one of the most important positions on the ground at Subi, would be a huge task for Tex in game #3 but I'd give him the chance. Look for 100+ supercoach/DT points if he's given this assignment :thumbsu:

Anyway, these changes tick all of the boxes for mine, but I've got a feeling that Shirley will be brought in for Knights instead of Symes. Hope I'm wrong but don't feel strongly enough to care.

If Stevens doesn't come up, I'm fairly certain it'll come down to Moran and Sellar. Moran will probably get the nod because of experience and speed.

Out: Bock, Knights, Hentshel
In: Gill, Stevens, Symes.

Thats pretty much how I see it. The selections are likely to be like for like.

Gill - Hentschel
Stevens - Bock
Knights - Symes/Cook

It think the KNights replacement could go either way betwen Symes and Cook but the other ins are a certainty IMHO. If Stevens doesn't come up it becomes a bit messy and would probably go with someone like Sellar and play him at CHB.

Gill - Hentschel
Stevens - Bock
Knights - Shirley

Other possibilities:
Hentschel/Bock - Griffin/Moran/Sellar
Knights - Symes/Cook

OUT: Hentschel, Bock, Knights
IN: Gill, Stevens. Shirley/Symes.

Well i know these aren't very inspiring changes, but i would love to see this. Well, Symes gives us the run that Knights had, but Shirley gives us more grunt in the centre, which we have been missing.. Thompson gave us some of that last week i reckon, had a good game. Hopefully us having the twilight game means that Stevo can get up, because he is obviously important to our structure. Gill, a controversial in if you like. He will play the Brett Burton role that we have been needing imo. good strong leading CHF who can kick a few goals. Especially with all of that room over at Subi.

Griff would be a possibility as well, he hasn't played for a while and has shown good form in the 2s. I havent seen him play for a while, so i wouldn't mind seeing how he goes in an AFL paced game.

Scott Stevens (hamstring) got through Thursday’s long training session and could return to the side to tackle Pavlich.

Forward Kurt Tippett has a headache after copping a knock to the head during the warm-up and Patrick Dangerfield is nursing a sore jaw after a separate incident.

From http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/74704/default.aspx

Neither is considered in any doubt.

Ben Rutten, who left the track with adductor tightness before rejoining his teammates, has played on Pavlich in the past and is another option at Adelaide’s disposal.

Craig also mentioned under-sized skipper Simon Goodwin and the inexperienced Andy Otten as potential candidates for the job.

Craig said he expected a highly-motivated performance from Fremantle this week.

“Hopefully, it will be a good head-to-head battle because we’ve got a lot to play for and they’ve got a lot to play for being a home game and 0-2,” Craig said.

In other news, midfielder Chris Knights, who has a fractured eye-socket, does not require surgery and is likely to miss just three games.

Didn't see Griffen on the flight to Perth this afternoon. Could have missed him though.

Glenelg supporter just wondering if Sellar will be making the trip over just in case Stevens doesnt come up? Will he go and be flown back?? or was he not taken at all? Thanks
