I have zero interest in reading this entire thread, but I would've assumed that its Geelong's first and its done. Are people seriously debating that?
Absolutely
+Value on field (CHF/Ruck), top 100 player in the AFL, pushing top 50
+Attractive salary (front loaded - a euphemism for pre-paid)+Currently contracted (2 years to run)
= greater than a mid 20's draft pick in a below average draft year.

Can I interest you in checking out the Liam Ryan thread for how that works out for youReally don’t get the hoo-ha in this thread. Either Geelong trade us what we consider adequate value for a contracted, required player or we keep him. As of now we don’t know for sure what is considered “adequate” value so there seems little point arguing the issue.
Lmfao at 3 years of firstsFirstly and most importantly, Stk are now in lockstep with NWM’s deal to compete for a flag.
To win a flag in the next two seasons, we will need to defeat Geelong.
It will be much more difficult to defeat Geelong if we do you an enormous favour and fill your seemingly last remaining list gap.
Second, Marshall is contracted and it’s now common knowledge he has been heavily front ended and is on let’s say 1/2 rate ~ 450-500k but could easily be less. This is therefore an integral part of our strategy to retain him on lower salary.
So in my mind there’s no world where we release him from his contract.
Having said that, what would make us move? Well, Geelong would have to be significantly worse off in 2-3 years or we would need to be significantly better right away.
Does Geelong’s P17 this year meet that? No.
What about P17 + F1 (say P17)? Well, no but obviously closer. Still not making you bad enough off when we’ll need to beat you and us better off right away.
Okay, here are the options in order of our preference.
1. No trade.
2. Max Holmes
3. 2025 P17 + 2026 F1 (17) + 2027 F1 (17)
Holmes adequately makes you worse and us better.
Three late firsts probably makes you worse off enough when we’re competing for a shot at it. Same as what you paid for an uncontracted Cameron and what you demanded for a contracted Tim Kelly so laugh away if you want but we set the terms.
Anything else is an absolute waste of breath.
Well my club is on the other side of the deal there so obviously the opposite applies. Basic BigFooty logic needed here. Can I interest you in checking out the Liam Ryan thread for how that works out for you
What an intriguing read this is
Geelong supporters desperately want Roma, and for nothing because they are doing St Kilda a favour taking him
But their counter to a decent argument from St Kilda supporters is that he isn’t that good and ruckman are overrated.
Brilliant![]()
So cringey.Saints fans: "Cats are the ones targeting one of our players, so they need to pay up to get the deal done!!"
Also Saints fans: "Liam Ryan already has one foot out the door, so West Coast need to take our minimum chips or nothing!!"
We still have plenty of cash.So cringey.
Marshall is 30. Saints got good service from him.
If he wants to go let him go and if he wants to stay he can stay.
Saints need the salary cap space anyway.
Why are you so obsessed with making us out to be the bad guys in every situation? How is it our fault that we want a decent return for a contracted player? So cringey.

They wanted TDK.
This hard bargain crap is so cringey.
I’ll once again point a poster on this thread over to the Liam Ryan one. Pot meet KettleWhy are you so obsessed with making us out to be the bad guys in every situation? How is it our fault that we want a decent return for a contracted player?
Are you able to explain that to me?We still have plenty of cash.
Only paying 83% of the cap according to Wilson
Every stkilda related thread.So cringey.

I've seen it. Really not seeing the relevance here mateI’ll once again point a poster on this thread over to the Liam Ryan one. Pot meet Kettle
Our total 2025 payments equaled 83% of this years cap and that includes Crouch’s final season and the final season payout for Billings to play at Melbourne. Are you able to explain that to me?
Isn't there a TPP floor?
Tdk gonna help them hit itAre you able to explain that to me?
Isn't there a TPP floor?
I'm not a Geelong fan however:
Reeves
Madden
Either Visentini
Sean Darcy
Moyal
Most are solid enough 2s players who can play the role ala Jordon Sweet at Port

But when it’s Ryan saints fans kick up a fuss that we’re being unreasonable. If Marshall wants to go Geelong you won’t get in his way and you’ll give him up for pennies, that’s the Ryan to Saints logic being spouted over there.I've seen it. Really not seeing the relevance here mate
One’s had a gutful of the club he is at and has requested a trade.
The other one hasn’t said anything yet ?.
That’s only been the case for a couple of days. For 2 weeks it was nothing but heresay and that didn’t stop anyone. Marshall has wanted out multiple times and now he’s being replaced by an inferior player, if he wants out I wouldn’t blame him and Geelongs first would get it done. One’s had a gutful of the club he is at and has requested a trade.
