If they thought they had a case they would be proceeding with it.
They clearly dont think due to certain reasons that they have a winnable case.

No-one except the the 3 people involved know what happened that night. People are right to point out that charges being dropped does not equal innocence but nor does it mean he's guilty, we simply don't know.
People banging on about the victims credibility. Can you imagine trying to get a conviction when the victim did perhaps accept money, but then things went too far ? Not saying that's how things went, but this thread is a good example and how difficult it would be. There is naivety everywhere.

Probably because the exchanging of money proved that sex had definitely occurred.
In many rape claims it is probably just one side's story vs the other.

Who knows. These cases are notoriously hard to prosecute. I don't have the answers but I think labelled the alleged victim as an extortionist is a disgrace, just because this guy happens to play for the football club you support.
