Isn't it at trial now?

Regardless, you don't get found innocent. You get found not guilty. He clearly did something dumb for it to have got this far.

Nope, the committal hearing started the week of the prelim finals and will continue in November - following that is when the magistrate will decide is there's enough evidence for the case to go to trial in the County Court

My guess, knowing how the Cats roll, having a pass ready for this bloke was them flipping the bird once again at authority and oppo fans had they won.

When they didnt win, they could hardly take it off of him as that would make it quite clear his situation was being exploited and wouldnt go down well internally.

He's been back with the team in full training for months now.

What do you mean? I think he could be very well innocent, doesn’t mean there should of been a suppression order in the first place or the club deceiving the general public saying finger injury or parading him out on the ground on grand final day

So if he’s innocent he will come back and play, there will no doubt be a stigma attached which is unfair but that’s how it is for anyone

Are you still banging on about this?

What? You start innocent until proven otherwise. Its a cornerstone of a real democracy.

He may be found guilty one day but until then, innocent.

So he trains in front of 100k spectators and a global TV audience yeah?

Something tells me im closer to the mark than youre attempt at deflection.

*your.

My point was he's at the club daily. So being with the team at all games isn't out of the ordinary.

Your accusation was he was brought in on GF day to piss off oppo fans which is farcical.

Farcical until you remember the Coach is the smuggest campaigner in the game and its well within his wheelhouse of antics.
Was probably gonna give him his medal had his team not shit the bed.

theres no point engaging with them, its fine having an accused rapist under a suppression order on a ground infront of millions apparently

You do realise no one goes to training sessions right? He, like 10-15 players from the list are eligible to walk onto the ground at the end of the game; the AFL can’t stop that as the player and his agent would be able to take action, given he’s a contracted player still.

I’m wondering how you tie your shoelaces at this point.

Also fine to have a coach accused of systemic racism.

If you turn around and say 'he was not found guilty' then you have to have the same presumption of innocence until proven otherwise towards this player.

Fagan continued in the spotlight, coaching, while there were investigations and lawsuits going on in the background didn't he?

Do you know the difference between a civil investigation and a criminal one?

We are talking about the optics of somebody accused of something horrific being publicly visible and engaged with a professional sports club. I don't think it matters whether it's a civil or criminal investigation.

EDIT: I didn't like the player being broadcast on the ground after the game and think the AFL/club should have prevented that from happening, but I have no issue with the player quietly maintaining employment away from the spotlight while waiting for the legal process to drag on.
