For the right player he most certainly is.

Gotta agree with this.

I really like Wellingham but he is one of those rare players that is potentially worth more to another club than to us. I would rank him about 7th in our midfield whereas elsewhere he would be in the top 3 or 4. Hence it's possible that we could leverage a very favourable deal with another club that nets us a ruck or forward option.

It sucks to lose a player that you like and that could go on to have a great career elsewhere but if it brings to the club something that's lacking it's the kind of tough decision that wins you flags.

Savage from Hawks?

Nope, I can 100% promise you it was Collingwood who organized it all. This is not all now it's been going on for over 1 month. Also like I said in my previous post I dont know if Collingwood is interested in him anymore since he has done his PCL. I will try find it out and post back.

I do have factional evidence and I am not making up anything.
Do you actionally have factional evidence?

I think it's a ficticious horse, though don't tell Pie eyed and Old Spice.
Smally is Clokes miniature equine chum.
Lives with him and all...in the house to boot.
We share a rumour or two now and then....
Not always reliable, but hardly fictitious....:D

Not for some of the ridiculous proposals Ive heard here, particularly when Wellingham has plenty of currency and worth.

IMO he isn't for sale. Would have to be a really good offer for us to even consider.

Very much a required player.

So if say Melbourne rang us up during trade week or whatever and said hey we will give you stef martin and a 4th round pick for Sharrod Wellingham

you would reply with...?

we need so much help in the forward/ruck role its not even funny.

NO!!! We wouldn't even use the fourth rounder.

List spots will be tight at the end of the year and we'll probably go to the draft table with 3 live selections. Meaning that an offer of Wellingham for Martin and a fourth rounder is just a straight swap of Martin for Wellingham.

Do you actionally have factional evidence?

Yes I do, I promise you that we had shown interest in him a few months ago and told him we would rookie him. Since then he has suffered a knee injury and I don't know if we are still interested in him.

I have been on big footy for over 3 years and I have never posted anything bullshit on here, when I find out anything more I will get back and report here.

Like who?

tell me who else can play forward and ruck well because we need someone like that

Let's look at it a different way.

Dawes ruck form this year has been fairly solid (I believe I saw a stat in the past week indicating that our clearance rate with him in there is well over 50%) its his work up forward that has really let him down. Just throwing it out there that we chase Stephen May and use him in that second KPF slot. He's twice the kick of Dawes and three times the mark. Yes he's raw, but his value at the trade table will be lower than that of Martin (even though I don't believe Martin's should be significant).

We then have Dawes truly play the Leigh Brown role of 3rd tall rather than expecting him to be something he's not ie a player capable of 5-6 marks, 15 possessions and a couple of goals a game. Which is what we'll need in order to contend again next year and is something May will be capable of in 15-20 games time.

Sorry for getting away from what the thread is about, but I just needed to point out there there are an abundance of other options out there that are superior to throwing everything at Martin. We made that mistake with Wood and look how that ended up.....

I would be happy to trade Wellingham for the right price, the best in terms of draft picks that we could get for him would be a second rounder but I would be happy to trade him for a player like Suckling. His ball use from the backline would be so good for us, we got terrible kickers apart from Reid. I doubt the Hawks will be willing to the deal though.

Not having a go because you got the info from somewhere else, but just generally, i wish people would be more specific when saying stuff like this. Just saying "i heard it on sen" isn't enough. Who said it? Was it a random caller? Was it in a news break? Or from one of the presenters? Which one? And how did he present the information? It makes difference.

Sorry Daics, mine was a throwaway reply, taking the urine at the term factional.
I never doubted that you had factual evidence. Cheers and again, sorry.

That's a really interesting stat on Dawes. May would cost a pretty penny but we have some currency to make it work. We have depth at KPD and the expansion teams really lack maturity in that area of the ground. I think they'd be keen. I've mentioned it before with little response but if we offerred up Keeffe or Brown we would get that deal done. A Cloke and May one two punch would be pretty potent combo for a lot of years. Would hate hate to lose either of Keeffe or Brown though. But tough decisions need to be made in footy and with list management.

I agreed with you that Wellingham can be had, but not for Martin.

25 yrs old and isn't even a walk up start for Melbourne.
