Coach Rutten sacked - no, really this time. Could the Dodo face extinction too? 🙏🙏

Just goes to show you can be a ‘big 4 club’ with all the members and resources in the world but if your governance is shot, like Essendon’s clearly is, you got no hope.

Wow Essendon’s board are a bunch of beginners.
How many big 4 clubs need to teach us this lesson?

Ramanaskis (ruttens manager)

Ramanuskas said at no stage has Rutten consider walking out on the club due to his “responsibility to the players and win a game this week” and given he’s under contract and that reports he’s lost the playing group are “absolutely incorrect.”

And he even said Rutten could coach on at the club next year

“Absolutely he could, and I think that’s based on the endorsement from the players, that’s first and foremost. If we had lost the players, that becomes pretty difficult,” he said.

“Relationships would need to be mended, no doubt about that, but I still think there’s a scenario where he can still coach the Essendon Football Club.”
we should translate fundamentally not right into latin and drop it on our emblem

That Barham interview would have to be one of the worst President interviews I've seen.

He literally seemed to have no idea about culture, people or building a long term successful club.

It was all about "what I need to do". Stuff who he upsets in the process.

Some of the best material was left to last when he was asked what he would say to lure the next coach to the club. Isn't that exactly the same spiel they sold to Rutten to get him across?

This ****wit and his enablers are now running our club and there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it.

Why would Clarko ruin his extraordinary coaching cv, to join a club where most of their good players want out and don’t want to be there.

Essendon is a way more attractive proposition for Clarko, Essendon’s squad is tailored made for Clarko to have an immediate impact. I’m saying it with full chest, if he comes in we’re getting top 4 next season comfortably.

North Melbourne can have Clarko after we’ve won four flags in a row and they’ve relocated to tassie, where they can eulogise over drew petries celebration as their only meaningful accomplishment in their organisation.

Oh and we’ll take Zurhaar too thanks, and McKay as a free agent next year as well. Forgot to add, enjoy Ken Hinkley as coach too, and make sure you stock up on as many wooden spoons before you relocate to your natural state of origin.
Oh dear.

I wouldn't want to be an Essendon/Man United/Renegades supporter right now. I know someone who is 2/3 but I'm sure there are a few 3/3 out there haha
at least victory aren't shit right?

I seriously don't get it, he's a failed coach, tried to cheat and ended up with a squad with soft tissue injuries, then came back after his suspension and had zero success, why would anyone want him as head coach?
The same people who think Dodoro's a good list manager also think Hird's either a decent or still unproven (somehow) coach.

Sonja used to be a BigFooty poster here, proving the theory than any old North nuff could run a club better than Essendon do.

"I didn't really want to have ongoing discussions with the Bombers, to be fair," Clarkson said.

"I met briefly with David Barham on Tuesday and then I knew I was going to be away on Wednesday and Thursday. We were just so far down the track with the North Melbourne and the GWS decisions that the whole process just came far too late to give (Essendon) really serious consideration.

"Out of fairness to the people that I know at the Bombers ... it was really out of respect for those people and I had to repay that respect in a dignified way and at least listen to what they had to say.

"But the due diligence required to actually consider coaching a club takes a hell of a lot more than four days for me. It just ran out of time. In a different set of circumstances and at a different time, who knows? But this was the right fit for me right now."
Ouch

1/3, supporting United right now is rough as they’re an absolute basket case. Luckily I have the cats who despite missing some big chances at a flag recently, have given me a hell of a ride just about my whole life, they continue to do the right things.

Perhaps, but certainly suits their mindset
Worse options out there.
He has had experience at Freo, Gold Coast and now Giants and has had HC experience when he took over the Suns for awhile
