Nah, I just don't suck Rockstar's dick like everyone else. All 3 are more fun to play than GTA IV simple as that.

Rockstar will take back the throne with GTA V though.

Plus the GTA IV dlc's?

SR2 was epic but 3 was 'meh'.

I rate it this like:

SR2 > GTA IV Complete Edition > SR1 > SR3 > GTA IV

Played about 20 mins of SR1 on Xbox which was a preowned copy and was real glitchy so can't compare it.

So beacuse everyone prefers GTA to SR is beacuse they suck their dick? Hmmm dat logic.

GTA IV is preferred not because it's a better game but because it has GTA in the title. Simple as that.

It's not as simple as that. GTA IV had better narrative, shooting mechanics and driving physics. Would have it covered online I suspect as well.

Saint's Row series is a decent gaming series but it gets no where near GTAIV.

Better driving mechanics, More gritty realistic world, A thousand times more likeable character and while teedles on the border of witty/comical storytelling rather then saints row 3 being "WOW OUTRAGOUS SITUATIONS!"

I didnt mind GTA SA. howeve i could name 20 games i much preferred over it/ However GTA 4 was brilliant game. Saints row 3 feels like it's aimed at children compared to GTA 4

Why do we play games? Because it's fun. Is the SR series more fun to play than GTA IV? Yes.

F*ck all of that narrative, graphics, game engine crap.

Give me a measuring stick on how to measure "Fun" people had with a game and i will agree with you.

I cant have fun with contrived feeling i get with Saints row third over the top humour and situations rather then GTA 4.

Story is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge thing when it comes to games for me. If I don't like the story the entire game will struggle to keep my interest. I enjoyed the story that GTAIV told in 2008.

The game also plays better. The shooting is dependable and enjoyable.

All Saints Row feels like is the result of a brilliant brainstorming session. A session which started with the line 'there are no wrong answers' so everything stupid got put in there.

Just because you are shooting someone in a Hot Dog suit does not automatically lift the core game mechanics above decidedly average. The Saint's Row game isn't really that much more fun to play unless you were say sitting in a room with mates laughing at the stupid shit they are doing.

GTA IV is still more fun for me. As Delirious says the games feel forced (especially SR3).

A lot of people derive fun from all elements of games. That includes narrative, graphics, physics and gameplay. I'm fairly big on story myself, so a good narrative can indeed be big on my fun factor.

Personally, where would I rate GTA IV and SR3? I'd probably put GTA IV and SR3 in similar standing tbh. Both are good games with a lot of faults and issues here and there.

I'm not going to delve into everything in this one post, but certain aspects of SR3 beat out GTA IV and certain aspects of GTA IV beat out SR3. I rather the arcadey physics of SR3 in the SP aspects of GTA IV and SR3 but online I would take GTA IV's unpredictability as it added some insanely fun and crazy moments (and I played a SHITLOAD of GTA Races).

I'd probably put the shooting mechanics on level pegging, both have their issues, but are competent enough.

Story wise I actually think SR3 holds up stronger than it really deserves to. I think a majority of the cutscenes and sequences in the game, while not necessarily structurally cohesive, still work to create a decent end product.

GTA IV has a far darker and gritty story that has a lot of holes you can poke through however. But as usual the characters that Rockstar created are phenomenal to watch and listen to, so it is always enjoyable regardless of the subject matter and how tatty it can look under scrutiny.

That said, I played GTA IV's story two times over and put in there abouts of 100-150 hours online. Compared to about 30 or so hours spent on SR3. So I guess if we're going for pure fun factor and/or fun had while playing, the fact that I did continue to put so many hours into GTA and did play the story two times probably says I had more fun with GTA IV.

I don't know why, but Rockstar just manage to make worlds for me that I can **** around in without the need for anything else to be leading me towards it. A lot of other open world games, I tend to require an objective and may go off the beaten path here and there to **** around, but just usually want to have an objective to tentatively head towards. With Rockstar games there just seems to be an inherent, unmentionable quality that allows me to derive fun from even the smallest of moments. Hell, I spent 60 hours completing the story of RDR and I mean just completing the story (most people on here were done in half that - IF that).

Def the way I see it too, well said.

Never played any of the Saints Row games, so I can't compare. Just finished my fourth playthrough of GTA IV though and I gotta say... Niko Bellic has grown on me. The broken part of his nature could have been written a bit differently sure (he accepts all these missions a little TOO easily - I would have liked to have seen the consequences of him saying 'no' more often), but he's an easy guy to feel empathy for.

Moreso than Carl Johnson. Tommy Vercetti had different motivations - a brilliant character to play as but not someone I felt much empathy for. Claude from GTA III? Kind of fun but ZERO personality!

Pfft.

SR1-SR2-SR3 are all better than GTA IV.

Saints Row has been > GTA since 2006.

Almost agree with Kaan10. I would say SR2-3 better than GTA IV

Far more fun and enjoyable and no annoying cousins you need to spend time with. No spending hours on tutorial missions. The only quailty mission in GTA IV was the four leaf clover mission (I think that is what it was called). I have never felt a need to replay it which is a lot different from SR 2 - 3 and GTA San Andreas.

Official Announcement trailer, release date given too of August 23rd, nothing about a Wii U release.

Looks like they're going crazier and crazier, obviously will piss some in this thread off.
