Loved SR 1 & 2 but the last 2 meh, shit house...

Why are you still playing it then?

Because I paid $50 for it so I may as well try and finish it before GTA comes out.

As of the end of today I won't play it again.

And being someone on here who has actually played it I can give a fair indication of its crapness.

Nothing more but a dlc made into a game.

We get that you don't like it, you don't have to mention it every second post.

Did I mention that it's crap as well?

Sorry didn't realist posts in this thread were reserved for praise only.

I bought it and I've played it, I'll say what the **** I want about it.

If I played it as a standalone game and not after playing the first three games I might enjoy it more. It needs to go back to being more like SR2 and fast.

I'm enjoying it. It disappoints in the lack of interaction of the main characters, it really takes away from the game and is the biggest indicator it is an extended DLC.
Still I have spent a number of hours playing it and having a good time.

Agree with others' assessment on how your character gets around in this game, jumping, gliding and sprinting are so well handled. Enormous fun in and of itself.

I *think* I'm about 3-4 hours away from finishing the game (although, 1 hour ago I thought I was half a hour from finishing... if that makes sense), so probably best to avoid the following unless you've finished the game or don't mind spoilers at all.

Pre spoiler summary

* I think it is quite good
* Playing on normal difficulty
* I haven't played SR1, played about 1 hour of SR2 years after release and didn't care for it, and enjoyed SR3 enough to see it through to the end. SR4 is my favourite so far.

A few disjointed thoughts.

*Combat is fine I guess, though I am not particularly good at it. I tend to rely heavily on the physical stomp and fire burst moves, and mop up anyone with fully powered up duel pistols. This seems to do the trick and haven't had to mix it up much. I suspect combat gets more varied on higher difficulties?

*I like the main story and loyalty missions as they are, for the most part, a good change up of the regular challenges and there is generally something amusing going on, a fun video game reference, teaming up with Rowdy ****en Roddy Piper (!), or what have you. the side missions dragged on as the game progressed - go here and upload a virus, then go here and shoot up some aliens, then go here and hack a store etc etc. most tasks are fun in and of themselves, but the volume and repetitive nature grinded somewhat.

*Speaking of challenges, my favourites were the fraud and various destruction mini games. Enjoyed hacking as well. Didn't care for the ones where you had to TK the coloured balls at their respective targets at all. Other than that, nothing to exciting or horrible.

*Finding audio logs, text adventures and clusters is great fun thanks to how great travelling is in general, as previously noted.

*Character customisation is great as usual. I intend to play through 3 and 4 again at some point just to make up a new character actually, so this is a big positive for me. the games Matrixy bent is a good excuse to dress them up as superheroes as well.***

*The best description of the story I've read elsewhere is 'surprisingly coherent'. It's silly and goes out of its way to incessantly crowbar in nerdy references but its not meant to be taken seriously and it makes sense within it's own logic - mind you last night there were a few twists and turns in the story that I either missed or were poorly explained. Probably the former. Either way, it all ended up with me teaming up with the aforementioned Roddy Piper so I am fine with this.

*Game loses a little with the over the top hysterics - eg: the level early in SR3 where you parachute into a penthouse apartment and shoot up a party while Kanyeezy West's Powers is playing. Every fight starts that way now pretty much, and dulls the impact a bit. It kinda goes hard all the way though.

*SR3 and 4 are some of the best opening hour-or-so's that I can remember playing. Both hit the ground running, no fart arsing around explaining how the ****en right analogue stick works. this is how you do tutorials.

*Excellent music choices abound. Jumping over skyscrapers and crushing alien peasants under your boot with disdain while You Got The Touch is playing will never get old.

***As an aside, I am one of those dickheads who whinges about how all video game protagonists are the same and I am sick of all the stereotypical untouchably beautiful women who populate video games. But what do I do when I get the chance to make my very own character: either a) a beautiful blonde woman with enormous breasts and not much clothes, b) a beautiful emo brunette girl with slightly smaller but still big boobs and not much clothes.

The super powers make driving pointless. I just ran and jumped everywhere.

That is basically what I did.

I ended up finishing on hardcore because the game is hell easy anyway. I did barely any side quests because they were all the exact same.

I might actually trade this in though, while it has value, I don't see myself caring for the SR games after GTA 5 comes out.

I have the R rated version which is banned in Australia so won't be able to trade it in.

You'd be able to privately sell it?

Would probably get more for it that way than through trade-in.

Perhaps. Paid about $50 for it and it has unused dlc.

Surely with Australia's new 'R' rating everything will be cool retrospectively?

Nope, this didn't pass the new guidelines, even with the 'R' rating available. Had to be censored. pantskyle can inform you that the drug use and anal probing of civilians would have turned him into a hardcore criminal, had he not already been incredibly well versed in the art of anal probing.

Now that GTA V is out, this can go back to being the red headed step child in the corner that nobody talks to

I have actually beaten my copy.
