Man who is going to play running back in week 3.
Frank Gore apparently knocked back a couple of NFL offers as he wants to get into boxingMan who is going to play running back in week 3.
Mitchell , Sermon, McHasty all got hurt in the game vs eagles and all likely questionable for week 3.
Bring back frank the tank gore.
Free agents RBs Duke Johnson and Lamar Miller are visiting the 49ers.
Adam Schefter later added that T.J. Yeldon was also invited to the visiting party. The 49ers have seen four running backs go down to various injuries since the start of the season. Raheem Mostert is already out for the year while Trey Sermon and JaMycal Hasty both left in Week 2 and did not return. Elijah Mitchell injured his shoulder and was able to return versus the Eagles but his status for Week 3 is still uncertain. Trenton Cannon is the only healthy back on San Francisco's roster right now. If either veteran back signs with the 49ers, they will likely play a secondary role to Mitchell or Cannon.

49ers signed RB Jacques Patrick.
Patrick had been on the Bengals' practice squad before the running back-needy Niners came calling. The 49ers backfield has been ravaged by injuries -- a tradition like no other -- over the season's first two weeks, forcing the team to seek backfield help wherever they can find it. Patrick, an enormous 6'3", 236 pound back out of Florida State, could see decent run in the coming weeks with JaMychal Hasty (ankle) and Trey Sermon (concussion) highly questionable for Week 3. Elijah Mitchell is dealing with a shoulder injury that could limit him in practice this week. In five XFL games in 2020, Patrick rushed for 254 yards on 60 carries (4.2 YPC) and two touchdowns. He caught five passes for 49 yards. Patrick played for the Bengals in the 2021 preseason, rushing for 156 yards and a touchdown on 31 attempts (5 YPC). Patrick should be added in deeper formats.

That he takes out for a joy ride on Sundays
Problem is Shanahan takes the committee approach a bit far. Every preseason there are 10+ top notch RBs fighting for a roster spot to be merely 4th stringers who all get 5 snaps a game on a rotating basis even when theyre all healthy.SF used to be a destination club for overlooked RBs....might be becoming a curse.
