“Im hit Mav, I’m hit”
“Where Goose”?
“In the eye mav, I don’t think im going to make it Mav”.
Plane falls out of the sky because a laser light passed across the helmet of pilot with supposed high tech visors to protect them from all types of light etc.
How long will it take to send a navy search and recovery mission?
Oh the humanity, we’re under attack…..run for the hills….sheezus on toast.
"Mav, I want you to take care of all the needs of my beautiful wife....and you know what I mean by needs don't you Mav"
"I do Goose and yes, I'll fill all her needs if you know what I mean"

People are afraid of change, if they're in a position of comfort.

People who own a home and already have an education have very little personal investment in seeing the status quo change, despite it almost certainly being beneficial to them.

It's a bit like how █████'s base of supporters was that midwest working class cohort who would likely most benefit from things like government funded healthcare. The US system has done an incredible job of convincing people that the Government is their enemy, and the ultra-wealthy are aspirational idols that they could become themselves if only the pesky Government would get out of their way.
Similar to One Nation voters - perpetually aggrieved and few have been on a Uni campus.

This election is 1972 again.

It really is time.

The x'er's and y'er's have a chance to make a big change like people did back then and point their world in a new direction.

Don't waste this chance guys.
Well I hope so Hoj! That was the first time I got to vote. Big party at the Save Our Sons leader Jean McLean’s beachside house in Mentone or somewhere. Man did the Mateus Rose and Porphery Pearl flow that night ( not mention many many joints in the sand dunes).

LNP voters often come from a highly educated, wealthy cohort. Where do you think they recruit new Young Liberals from?
Combination of the two. The uneducated manufacturing factory worker who deeply wants their life not to change as they’ve made it & benefited from the Howard era and then you’ve got as you say the educated that no matter how much money they’ve got it’s never enough. These people pass their thoughts down to their children who as adults now believe the mantra of the lefty will ruin your life whether their smart, stupid, wealthy, poor, educated or uneducated.

Oh god, regardless of the shift, the fact that the ******* hit a 65% approval rating at any point has me even more depressed about the state of this country

It started to drop after he began playing the Ukulele!!

The voters realised that we can still fix the climate. but not the destruction of music as we know it!!! :)

What a strange series of posts you've made on this topic.
Projection.
My guess is that our idiots in charge made our military personnel seek out a minor confrontation with a world military power, so they could keep the 24hr “big bad Chyna” news cycle.
This exact scenario was predicted on this page months ago and hey presto, “look a rabbit out of Duttons and Morrison’s clacker”.👍

So your latest thought nugget is:

ScoMo ordered a plane to fly near a Chinese ship, then planned someone on that ship to shine a laser that plane?

Sounds good, but no. I think its just routine to show the flag when foreign warships come nearer to our shores.

The CCP reaction just shows their current belligerent nature since Xi Jinping decided to revert to the old red, Maoist behaviour. That mainly to distract from the mess he's created in his own country.

My prediction is that this kind of thing probably happens every time a Chinese ship goes close to Australia. A plane flies over it, the Chinese track it, shine a laser at it (this is, after all, what they're practicing) and nobody ever mentions it.

But when there's an election, it's blown up as a huge issue by the PM to scare the fragile amongst us.

It's not aimed at people who read forums like this. It's aimed at Qld farmers and suburban parents who think there are too many Coloured people in Australia.

Same with Putin. Chinese and Russian economies not doing great, so they've started banging the drums of war/belligerence.

Agree - 45% of Liberal and Labor voters have been to Uni, whilst it is 20% for One Nation supporters.

The following figures suggest where swinging voters differ from the mainstream of Australians.

Identify as working class:
Liberal 32%

Labor 45%
One Nation 66%

Those who thought the national economy was worse than it was a year ago:

Liberal 47%
Labor 46%
One Nation 73%

Native born:
Liberal 78%

Labor 79%
One Nation 98%

Immigrants take our jobs:
Liberal 30%
Labor 31%
One Nation 67%

Immigration numbers to be cut “a lot”:

Liberal 24%
Labor 21%
One Nation 83%

Re-introduction of death penalty:
Liberal 42%
Labor 40%
One Nation 88%

Yes it may well be a part of it. However Putin really pines for the USSR.

His 'claim' on Ukraine is mainly on the basis that Ukraine was a construct of the USSR! It shouldn,t be in the western camp of the EU & NATO.

Someone should remind him the the USSR self destructed 30 years ago.

It is the military ffs - if they are not prepared to deal with a few lasers then the ADF is even more f’ed than we thought.

Is that relevant though as to whether or not the use of lasers and planes is known to be problematic?

Which is exactly what chelsea now has his knickers in a knot about. He claimed it was harmless. Many - significantly more authoritative sources - disagree.

Instead of simply saying "yeah, they shouldn't be shining lasers at pilots" he's gone off on some bizarre tangents.

Essentially it is no different than Putin parking his ships off Qld or wherever it was.

If Australia is going to continually agitate superpowers then superpowers are going to do superpower stuff.

And for anyone who says Australia must stand up for themselves I challenge you to barge into your local Bandidos clubroom, push over a few bikes and see what happens. You will be praying for lasers.

to be fair, One Nation's results are simply what I'd expect Regional QLD's results to be anyway.

Except thos Bandidos are actually 80% of your customers and your livelihood

Especially when one considers that JobKeeper was the most left wing policy since Whitlam.
Kind of

I feel as though the Whitlam Government might have anticipated the potential issue of Harvey Norman etc simply capitalising on an opportunity to have their workforce paid for by the Government to the purposes of significant profits

I’m a Gen X. I’ve always realised the good old days weren’t as good as we all thought. It’s just nostalgic glasses, best examples are watching footy on YouTube fmd there was no tactics full stop just get it down to the big bloke at FF as quick as possible. FFS some boomers still think if you wear pink you must be a girl or “****” 😂😂😂laughable. I don’t think I’ll ever pine for yesteryear. I have a way better connection with my family if I move with the times. Imo the issue that eventuates with boomers is boomers own doing with telling everyone how hard they’ve done it, how they were so smart with investment when a fair few just were born at the right time, how they try to piss on everything that a younger generation does etc

But like I’ve said while that may be the majority of boomers there is a decent size minority that is not like it and like you, having a good understanding of our younger generations issues these days and lifestyles. I do worry about how society and political parties will view younger boomers when they become a minority as I’ve said on here a few times imo the LNP will use what’s left of that generation to demonise to get a few votes from younger generations.
Do we all end up as boomers?

I don wanna be a boomer!!! :(

Consensus seems to be the ALP have policies that would benefit Australians, but they're unable to sell it to the voting public because Murdoch controls their news resources. Oh, and the voting block that matters are old, so they lack the tech nous to look beyond Murdoch newspapers and FTA stations to see the light that 18-30yr olds are sharing here.

Surely that's naive.
My view is the ALP have policies that would benefit Australians but they're unable to sell it to the voting public because the voting public are stupid.

Unfortunately for her, her rep in Higgins got smashed in 2020 when she kept backing scomo's let it rip views on covid.

Anyone listening to her knew she didn't believe what she was saying, and for a doc to roll over defending science for party politics was disappointing

Allen is exactly the type of candidate who the liberals could have used to lock Higgins away from the greens, but that appears to have been pissed away now imo*

genuinely could go to any of lib/alp/green/teal*, with it gunna come down to first preferences determining how the preferencing dominoes fall. Libs need the Indi to drop first as they are most likely to get preferences from them than the alp or greens

** I haven't heard an announcement yet for a Voices For candidate for Higgins. Heard we were getting a very strong one months ago, but it's been oddly quiet compared to Kooyong and Goldie.
Nice to be in a contested electorate for once this time. I stupidly haven't looked into who the ALP candidate is who will run in Higgins. Do you know, Ned?
