But is the average middle of the road seining voter who was a bit unsure of ScoMo now suddenly going to back him because he’s against trans sports?
This

At best it gets middle australians talking about it for 24hrs

She will probably be fine on the AZ thing. The concerns were really that ATAGI came out and recommended under 60s, then under 50s to take another vaccine. Then the CHO reiterated it and the “it’s not a race” bizzo came into play. It was once Scomo realised the backlash of half the nation seeking the vaccine they were actually advised to get that he realised the risk had to be reassessed for political purposes. I would be surprised if anyone remembers or minds a doctor supporting what was the expert advice at the time.

I tend to agree. I think climate will be the battle for this electorate, but inclusion is on a rocket. People think these issues are isolated to the western part of South Yarra and Prahran, but they forget Boroondara is one of the greenest councils in Melbourne (and this covers Glen Iris and Ashburton). Also while Toorak, Malvern, Kooyong, Malvern East, and Glen Iris are highly liberal and conservative, they are not Bible belt.

This is becoming a big issue in professional women's sport and eventually a compromise will need to be found because there is growing opposition to transwomen playing women's sport.
So rather than taking a sensitive and sincere review of the complex issues involved in Parliament to build up community understanding and awareness...

Our Prime minister puts his weight behind a BAN - in the lead up to an election. For electoral impact and votes. Knowing full well the impact of the discussion will, yet again, be felt by young transgender people.

What a divisive pig of a man. Full of hate.

Sure, but that should be based on the findings of medical research, not on an arbitrary government policy.

he’ll use anything to manufacture an issue he can take a side on to get his “children overboard moment”. Yesterdays man trying to live in yesterdays world.

The addition of Windsor (I think that is one of the changes?) probably brings in more for labor or green also. High youth rental numbers, and Prahran Windsor are pretty progressive when it comes to gender issues.

They lost alp booths in Ashburton and Hughesdale, so it's a bit of a wash

Maybe, except the AOC might need the government to make a law but professional sports gender policies are a matter for the professional sports and the IOC and WADA.

Exactly!! This type of issue should have nothing to do with people trying to gain their “children overboard” moment.
He's trying to draw an over-reaction or over-reach by the other side of politics and create a █████-style culture war.

It's beneath Australians (not all, though).

The best answer anyone on the left could give is about 20 minutes of discussing both sides of the issue without committing to anything. Nobody will ever listen to it, no sound-bites and nobody actually cares enough to chase it up.

FWIW, I don't think anyone who goes through "male puberty" should be allowed to participate in womens' sports (of the physical variety, but particularly sports with contact or weight/speed). The only argument for me is how to measure "male puberty". (this is the kind of answer nobody in politics, particularly on the left should offer up.)

So your latest thought nugget is:

ScoMo ordered a plane to fly near a Chinese ship, then planned someone on that ship to shine a laser that plane?
A confrontation, yes.
Because
A) he’s a ****ing moron
B) he’s an imbecile
C) he’s a lost little campaigner in a adult’s world.
D) all of the above.

He’s looking for his moment to turn the election. When it comes to transgender women in sport we just take it out of politics & public opinion and leave it to the IOC. If everybody wants to sit and cheer on the Olympics like it’s the pinnacle of sport that’s what the world needs to follow

Australian has most definitely had culture wars for electioneering. Anti-migrant/Muslim sentiment is the most prominent. Same sex marriage. Women and sexism under Gillard.

I do agree Morrison and co are definitely trying to bait Albo into saying something “leftist” to use as a shock tactic.

Is that relevant though as to whether or not the use of lasers and planes is known to be problematic?

Which is exactly what chelsea now has his knickers in a knot about. He claimed it was harmless. Many - significantly more authoritative sources - disagree.

Instead of simply saying "yeah, they shouldn't be shining lasers at pilots" he's gone off on some bizarre tangents.
So you didn't believe China's version?

A Chinese state-controlled newspaper has accused Australia of provoking Royal Australian Air Force aircraft of flying to close to Chinese warships after Canberra raised concerns with Beijing about an incident in the Arafura Sea last week.

LOL at this being "promoted" as a big ticket issue.

His "reds under the bed" rhetoric is already waning, shot that load too soon I think, without even a date for the election being announced, now he is floundering around for a another "wedge" which targets the minute sliver of the community the religious right have issue with.

Funny that they have no issue with liars, thieves, frauds and divisive hypocrites who only wish others harm, like Morrison, Dutton et al.

Testosterone levels are what applies for World Athletics. Specifically 5 nmol/l

So in essence it'll have no impact at all? Sounds like it's just virtue signalling to conservatives.

Morrison’s anti-intellectualism is his biggest problem in Higgins.

It is a very highly educated electorate who have swallowed all the climate change bullshit for ever and who will turn a blind eye to issues of inclusion but they have very little tolerance for village idiots.

By framing himself as the bogan everyman Morrison has made him self unelectable in highly educated places.

The fact Morrison is an anti melbourne village idiot is terminal for him.

And you find this strange somehow, I’ve made my BF life up until recently, in being an obscurantist for a few likes and laughs.

My point still stands though, if our military pilots don’t have tech in their visors to deal with such a minor everyday occurrence, what the **** are they doing running sorties over Chinese naval ships, well known for doing this?
How bizarro indeed?
As I said earlier, you’re projecting, without a hint of technological nouse to modern military hardware and protection, although given our current government and hardware predicaments, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least that our pilots aren’t donning a leather cap and some visors bought at the local hoc-shop.

There's skepticism and there's skepticism. I wouldn't class skepticism over science that has been demonstrated thousand of times over in the same category as distrust of government tax and welfare plans, for example. I would say that among young people there is a skepticism that they will have the same living standards as their parents, and they don't trust politicians to do anything substantial about that.

But who is the core audience of Murdoch media, the most obvious garbage out there (with the possible exception of the Daily Mail)? I could be wrong, but I don't think it's anyone under 35.

I agree.

I have never claimed any generation has the franchise on savvy. However, I think boomers are more prone to scare campaigns partly because as a group they control a lot of wealth, so they have much more to lose. That's exactly who scare campaigns work on.
And yet we learned after the 2019 election, that the cohort most in favour of Labor’s franking credits changes was those people who were going to take the biggest hit from it - overwhelmingly boomers with share portfolios.

It’s precisely BECAUSE so many of us boomers are sitting pretty financially that we feel a sense of obligation to put back into the community and make it a better place for the most people possible.

We are not monolithic (says the angry leftist boomer whose mates are almost all angry leftist boomers too.)
