As someone with direct experience of Evangelical Pentacostal sects, i'd be far more comfortable & secure with a Buddhist, a Taoist or a Muslim in charge.

As far as I understand we the taxpayers will be kicking in to Hillsong's activities as our taxes go towards Scotty's salary. This goes for all public servants who tithe parts of their taxpayer-funded salaries of course, but here's the lowdown on Hillsong in particular;



I don't think us taxpayers should be funding religious institutions whatsoever. Government in this nation should remain godless irrespective of the personal beliefs of our sitting ministers and senators and other members of parliament and their appointees.

Yep they make 10s of millions a year out of their compulsory tithe. All tax free, its a ****ing scam.

While I agree with you on all points, I don't see how we can, or should, stop any citizen, from the PM down, from donating whatever part of their income to whomever they chose.

Religions should not be tax free, nor should they have any influence on the secular running of the state.

ScoMo is trying to give Abbott something to do, so he doesn't have as much time for white anting, sniping, and generally wrecking the government of which he is supposed to be a member. The "envoy" position is a distraction, with no power to do anything whatsoever. He's not a sworn Minister of the Crown, and has no power to do anything.
