Perhaps, I don't know anywhere near enough about psychology or trauma to say. But I'm deeply suspicious that people are mentioning this because it plays into the sexist trope that chaste virgin women are more valuable and more deserving of sympathy when violated.

Agree, it doesn't actually matter.

Probably pretty common amongst LNP junior staffers (compared to the rest of the population), a lot of them come from very religious backgrounds.

In that circumstance, it does add a further level of shame, because in the patriarchal religious societies (which particularly infest the LNP), they would consider her move valuable as a virgin.

WHY are we talking about this in a thread about Scott Morrison? Why was that your response to a post about there being potentially two different rapists responsible for three rapes within the current sitting government? Why, when there is a reasonable chance based on available evidence that the sitting government has tried to keep it as quiet as possible to ensure that they didn't get hit with it prior to an election, up to and including extorting one of the victims?

It is mindblowing to me that you're essentially equating those who are looking at this aghast as 'barrackers'.

Would Scott Morrison have been 'on the up' if this had come out immediately, or would we be sitting here with an entirely different prime minister?

A real conservative is still human, still capable of feeling appalled at something like this. A real conservative has respect for authority, and for station, and for law and precedent.

A real conservative wouldn't shirk their responsibilities towards women, even if they believe in conformist or regressive gender roles.
