It almost seems quaint now that Victoria conducted an inquiry into its Hotel Quarantine failures. And undoubtedly there were. But given the number of covid leaks/breaches from hotel quarantine are now in their 30's across almost every state, what it reveals is how the Federal government has (successfully) been able to abdicate responsibility and shift blame at every step.

And of course, this short-term political gain, lack of vision and refusal to take responsibility mentality is always doomed to unravel. And it surely is unravelling now. There is simply nowhere left for the federal government to shift the blame of their failures. And now they are clearly flailing. Blame the virus. Forget what we advised a month ago about the AZ vaccine - everyone take it. Morrison, Hunt and these acolytes (when not in hiding) emerge now not with their trademark shit-eating smirks but instead with an unmistakable look of spin-doctors now dazed, unable to blame Victoria - or every state that is now in simultaneous lockdown. These people are so clearly out of their depth. Secretly, they'd probably want to get toppled at this point.

It would really be in the public interest to launch a Royal Commission into the Federal governments handling of the pandemic response and the vaccine rollout. It's going down as one of the biggest, most costly failures since Federation.

I don't think there is any doubt that this is one of the biggest stuff ups by a government, but my question is what exactly will a RC accomplish. I mean, they will deserve to be rolled at the upcoming election and any RC called by the new government will just be pure political gain and not in the public interest.
