So this system we have that doesn’t rely on clearances, how did it go in the finals? Maybe we should rely on clearances more. Now you skipped over it, had we not won clearances against Collingwood would they have smashed us?

We lost clearances against the Bulldogs in Rd 18 when we won. We lost Clearances against the Hawks in Rd 21 when we won. We lost the clearances against the Magpies in Rd 23 when we won.

We then won the clearances against Collingwood in the first final and lost.

How does it make sense that us winning the clearances is important to our success? Please explain it to me.

As for ROB we are effectively playing one short, of course he’s a big issue.

It's the usual thing with rucks.

You don't need a good ruck, but you do need a ruckman who is competitive and predictable. Doesn't have to win taps or do much, but has to not get destroyed and allow the midfield to plan for something (either winning or losing taps). A classic role player

ROB is often not competitive and based on the finals is not a big game player either. He was destroyed by Meek last night.

ROB is also far too inconsistent. Some weeks he just doesn't rock up. When he doesn't win the ruck contest he loses it badly. Sometimes he can kick, sometimes he can't.

Well that's part of the problem with ROB's inconsistencies

Sometimes he actually can kick. So our players don't avoid him.

But then when he can't kick it's ****ing shocker central when he touches it

A more consistent ruck that either can or can't kick would mean we can just have a blanket rule of using or not using them in chains

Once you have a situation where a game plan is not competitive with another you simply cannot judge the players. The game plan puts one team under immense pressure and we say that those players are failures and that the team playing under no pressure are elite. It just doesn't work like that.

So disappointing to see the number of players on our list that have just been found out over the last two finals games. It feels like we are back to 2020. Those two performances were truly bizarre.

I was fooled big time this year. Reality is we don't have a midfield and a large chunk of our list is mentally weak.

Would not be surprised one bit if the wheels completely fall off again after this.

It's concerning that after players experienced finals for the first time and learned what the standard is like, they immediately played even worse in the second final.

That's why I'm not convinced we actually gained much from this supposed "finals experience".

I think what we actually gained is a hit to our belief and mental demons that will appear next time

I heard Nicks in the pre game talking about how great the experience was and how everyone raised their hands when asked who’s played finals. He was talking like just having played would do the trick, like that was the only reason we lost. He’s a legitimate moron.

What doesn't stack up is that the Crows were the better team in the first quarter not counting the first 3 minutes.

So clearly they have a game plan that can work and players that can do it.

But they refused or couldn't bring that same output for the rest of the game.

They also need to bring back the Power stance - only half joking. Bad starts in how many recent big games?

We were just winning games over absolutely terrible teams like West Coast and North. If people didnt see those games and the warning sirens didnt go off then they need to put down the bottle.
There was massive warning signs, its just Wether people wanted to accept them or put their head in the sand.

Its best we didnt make it to pay Geelong because they would have done a 119 on us.

We won 18 games in the minor round including Hawks and and Collingwood on the way home. We need a better midfield. That is what the finals have shown.
