Apparently, even if we don't play again this year, the top side will be promoted with a cup and bottom side relegated. Not sure about the other divisions but Beena probably need to go down to re group?
You'd be filthy if you got relegated and had a shit draw of not playing other bottom sides.
I hear that East Brighton haven't played Springy or H/Park at all this year! imagine if the two top sides play off in the granny and they pull it off!

Doveton keen to join Southern Football Netball League

It has prompted club officials to explore a move to the Southern league, at a time when fellow AFL Outer East clubs Cranbourne, Narre Warren and Beaconsfield have expressed interest in linking with the Mornington Peninsula Nepean league.

You're correct the MPNFL clubs do not want them and they won't end up there, no matter how much the MPNFL head office may delude themselves it'll happen.

Personally I think all of Cranbourne, Narre, Doveton and Beaconsfield would be great additions to the SFL. So would Berwick, though they're gone already. Even Officer and Pakenham, if they wanted.

And yes, I'd put all four of them in Division 1 with the Top 6 from Southern, and adjust the divisions downwards. The quality of the league would be much higher as a result, and there'd be four full divisions.

It should’ve happened long ago and solved the bloody SEFNL / MPNFL / OEFNL problem, instead of having a new or merged league every two years.

Now they’ve screwed the YVMDFL with this Outer East thing and all the clubs want out anyway. Will have to undo that now.

AFL Vic do need to fix it. It’s been a bloody mess since the SWGFL days… it’s been the biggest growth area in Vic for over 20 years and they’ve just allowed this rubbish to carry on the whole time.

Went to the MPNFL - that didn’t work

Carved them out into their own MPNFL division - that didn’t work

Formed the SEFNL - that didn’t work

Merged them with the YVMDFL - that hasn’t worked, they all want to leave the OEFL, and they’ve rooted the YVMDFL in the process.

They’re not bloody country clubs, they’re some of the biggest suburbs in Melbourne, they should be in a suburban comp and that’s the SFL.

Kudos to Berwick who finally realised this, although they went to the EFL. Sounds like Doveton are now across it too.

Couldn’t put Doveton into Div 1. They’d be mid table in div 2.

Narre And Beacy would be Div1 top 3 straight away and would be dominant in the longer term. Would be interesting to watch how the traditional SFNL div 1 powerhouses handled having these two shaking things up. None of the recent additions to the league have really affected the travel for Div 1 clubs like this would.
Beacy have one of the best set ups in local footy. It would quickly become a dreaded trip down the freeway.

They would be strong, other thing some people note is new clubs certainly haven’t sprung up with the population. Though that might be changing… Berwick Springs have started. St Francis changed to Narre South and joined the SFL. There’s always been talk of Narre North forming a senior club, though it hasn’t happened yet. That would certainly start to thin things out.

They’d all be great additions to the SFL, nothing wrong with a good boost from the populous outer suburbs, happened in all the other metro leagues years ago. Be good to see them up against the top current clubs in SFL.

What about balwyn there an old SFNL club and I've said it before there's too many clubs in the Dandenong region,they could just about play kick to kick,some need merge, just my opinion that's all.

Trying to remember. I think it was something along the lines of them wanting to basically keep their own league together as seperate division under the umbrella of the SFNL and the league would then need to invite/force a few of the clubs around them to compete in that division so they would have enough numbers.

I think there was a feeling that the sefnl really thought they could dictate terms.

Existing Div 1 clubs deserve to stay there and let the promotion and relegation continue. There's even talk that Div 1 and 2 will be reduced to 8 teams, thus making the comp stronger as well as down the grades.

The SNFL has accepted mediocrity for too many years. If you have to increase Div 1 to 12 teams then so be it. This rubbish about traveling is a cop-out. Just look at the travel some of the country leagues have to endure. With modern roads it takes bugger all to get to an away ground. After the loss of footy because of Covid I think most players would be happy to play in Tasmaniaif they had to. Just get on and do it.
