Oh please. Why is he struggling in the SANFL in a team that hasn't kicked a big score?

Lol

He's been injured all pre season, his fault of course. If that's your definition of a plodder well...

Jonas, the guy who made the AA squad isn't capable?

Yeah cause who needs 6 plus walk up starts including both Captains....

Seriously Geoffa if you are gonna be so one eyed and dismissive that's just loses any credibility. Least of all when your fellow fans (and everyone in the media) acknowledge that Port has many quality players out.
Can you shut the door on the way out?

Wonder if Port will defensively tag Lynch and Smith, if they stop those two player they can win.

Also I expect Port will play their dirty ball style because our backs prefer it in the air much like west coast.

and if they do play dirty ball are Hartigan, Talia, Keath and Kelly up to it?

I really feel who ever kicks straight will be the winner.

You can't just knock him for saying he doesn't do such and such when he may be playing a specific role to his team.

Ollie's job first and foremost would be to get the hard ball, and give it off to someone like Polec last season.

I'm not suggesting for a moment he's living up to his potential, at this point, but the guy's 24 years old, I'm not gonna write him off.

But to even pretend he somehow isn't good enough to even make your 22 is just blatantly silly.

That'd be like Port saying, well, we have Jonas, Clurey, Houston and Howard so Tahlia won't get a game for us...
He would also be a better player if he was in our 22.

I would take him in heartbeat. Trim him down a bit, he should not be 100kg, get him to learn better positioning and understand how to use those contested possessions more offensivley and teach him how to contribute away from stoppages so he can be an asset when not in the middle.

Then he would be an AA calibre midfielder.

Massive natural ability. But that is all we see at Port.

Will be great to get Seedsman, Milera and Brown back over the next few weeks but shows why it's so important to sneak Jones and/or McHenry in for some games now.

Will only get harder later to do so.

Yep, just look at ROBs development as a good example. Could well be a 200 gamer for us.

M Crouch and Sloane match up well with Rocklift and Boak. that could be an even contest. We do have an advantage with B Crouch over SPP,
To me, the difference will be CEY and Greenwood they can be a big factor and don't see Port having a match or a break-even player to run with them.

CEY and Greenwood are the key to our entire season.

Sounds so easy hey? Why aren't you being paid 100s of thousands as a coach?

I'm pretty sure Ollie will come back towards the latter part of the year and be back to where he should be, he has maturity and professionalism far beyond his age (excluding last Summer which I don't forgive).

Not everyone is gonna be a Martin or Ablett.

Nah not easy at all.

Easy to identify faults. Harder to fix.

In the scheme of things he is a good average player.

Even you agree Boak and Rocky are better?

Would not have thought that at the start of the year. More so with CEY.

CEY has improved his fitness base massively. He was running in quicksand for most of last year. This year much more agile.

The pair really complement each other.

I'm a Boak fan, if you were to combine ON and OFF field, I would have him as the best Power Player ever. So on that basis, no I don't rate him as high as Boak, but that doesn't mean he's not a quality player.

He's well above a good average player, and to judge a guy who is 24 years old would be a bit foolish, he has the best part of a decade or 200 games left in him.

Rocky I won't make a call on, I'm indifferent, he's a ball magnet, he's tough, but I don't see him as damaging as others and when he came in I had heard he wasn't the quality leader type, though he appears to have significantly improved this season (as I'd expect a player of his caliber too).

Thanks for sharing that info Sando.

Interesting call on Rocky.

Given he was an AA at a similar, maybe younger age than Ollie in 2014. And has been pretty good since, barring injury and misused by your coaches in 2018.

What he did in a bottom team is irrelevant to me.

He wasn't mis-used. He didn't have a chance to develop a relationship with the previous AA Ruck as he was injured.

Now I believe the AFL came out with an article just now saying Port are number 1 in the clearances with him and Boak (and our new Ruck tandem).

Yes you midfielder is very good. But your overall team balance not so good. I see they also note you are failing to gain advantage from midfield dominance.

You guys are like a car with a massive engine producing lots of power, but poor steering and brakes.

Which gets back to my initial point and concern for this game in regards to a Crows win. You have lost two slower natural mids (one shoehorned into a small KPF, Ebert) and replaced them with two quick attacking players. Better balanced.

I would much prefer to play you guys with an overload of natural inside mids than this more balanced side.

By reports we may have added Johnson into the team....

Should have been Motlop, and I hope it still is...

But we are still a better team with all those experienced players back in. No way someone is gonna convince me that just because of balance it's better to have Johnson and Amon over say Wines and Ebert, especially in the wet against a team with bigger bodies, let alone taking into account the countless other kids in the team...

I would have gone Frampton for Ebert. Ebert basically being a small KPF this year. May as well play a real one, Frampton in good SANFL form. I think?

Is Sam Gray your leading goal kicker this year?

What do you expect the forward match-ups to be? Our key forwards will likely be Marshall and Westhoff, both of which go much further up the ground especially Hoff. Will Talia stay on Marshall or will he go to a resting Ryder/Lycett? We don't really have a conventional key match-up.

He turns 25 later this year, maturity and professionalism......hmmmmm.

Not sure his activity just prior to the JLT was all that professional.

He's not a youngster anymore.

I didn't defend that, nor will I, but someone can make a 'mistake' and if that mistake didn't involve doing something illegal it'd be a pretty hard thing to judge him by. Was it reckless? Yes. He's just doing what most other guys his age would do.

You can't just dismiss all the good he has done based on one incident, especially one so minor as that.

I reckon Hartigan may take the resting Ruck.

Keath to Marshall

Talia to Westhoff.

Sam Gray worries me. With no Brown we have no natural match up for him.
