Kane, you are correct in that you have as many players out as us and that we have better depth. However, with due respect, how can you even think of comparing the quality of your players against ours. i think we will have to debate this one over a pint or 2 at the Elephant.

Mitch, I'm up for pre-showdown drinks on Friday. You would notice that the player we have missing have more AA guernsies & premierships, so happy to discuss their quality anytime.

As I have said above, I just don't rate Stevens. Didn't before he came to the Crows and don't now.

Just to add a little to that. Adelaide have been complaining about their forward line since Modra left (granted you have won 2 premierships with a makeshift forward line but the way you achieved that is the subject for a whole different discussion). Stevens was supposed to be one of the pieces to fix these problems. However, they have continued. That is why I do not rate him. It may be that he is being played out of his ideal position but I can only assess him on the role he has played so far.

I seriously doubt that he'd find a place in Port's starting 22.

I'm sure that we could find more than one player on Port's list that we'd similarly disagree on.

I have only been to one Showdown (living in Sydney) but it was fantastic. Just happened to be the last one we won. Great come from behind stuff, led by Roo and Macca. Hmmm. Time for a repeat performance me thinks.

I remember that game well. Still haunts me every time Adelaide get a run on, no matter how far up we may be.

Since moving to Melbourne, I have made it a habit to go back Adelaide for both Showdowns. Since I started doing that, we have not lost.

You are seriously clutching at straws. Mark Stevens was the only constant that our forward line was build around in 2001 and 2002 and in those years he was 2nd and 3rd in the Best and Fairest.

He would make Port side before the likes of Thurstans. I am sure that Mark Stevens would give you the tall marking forward to complement Tredrea. Whether thats at CHF or FF.

With all due respects, if you don't rate Mark Stevens as a good player you know nothing about football. So I guess 100+ marks and 38 goals from CHF in 2002 makes him a player not worth rating?????? Mark Stevens was the bloke we built a forward line around in 2001 and 2002 and if you look back at the statistics and the games of 2002, Mark Stevens was the only real key forward for us in 2002. It is also no coincidence that we were 5th highest scoring team in the league that year.

He is not in the league of Tredrea but as far as team structure goes he is just as important to us as Tredrea is to Port if not even more.

I have already called a truce with Napsyd. Happy to do the same with you. However, I object to you questioning my knowledge of footy. Surely I can hold a particular opinion about a player that differs from your's without it being accused of that.

Anyway, the fact that you built your forward line around him in 2001 and 2002 and it was still generally seen a deficient reinforces my opinion. As does the 38 goals from CHF in 2002, when he "was the bloke we built a forward line around." Not many really when he should've been the main target.

Also, I am not comparing him to any particular player, let alone Tredrea. I simply don't rate him generally.

You're not going to convince me that he is a good player and I am not going to convince you that he is not. Prejudices are funny that way.

Can we call that truce now and hope for a good game on Sat?
