Both Stevens and Verlado at Silvan in 2026. Huge loss for what’s left at Lyndale.
Suspect there will be a few more depart as well.

Club culture only takes you so far…

be careful you know the Lyndale supporters can be a bit feral, i believe they lost a couple of their back men to St johns as well and Chanel to country, will still chase a 2's flag

Nothing better than seeing the pumas get their pants pulled down by other clubs around them, when they were beating their chests only months ago about how good the culture is. Yet half their senior team is gone and their recruits are nobodies. Hearing a few more out the door as well. Dandy west or st John's the teams to beat currently. Also, how TF do dandy recruit from dingley?!?

Not everything is sunshine & rainbows at Dingley. The bigger the club, the more people you have to keep happy. Not everyone is in love with the coach & when you constantly recruit externally, there's still only 22 spots up for selection

Big Fish Small Pond, why be a 2's player at Dingley when you can be a solid 1's in a lower div and the access to possibly getting paid. losing Veraldo and Stevens really hurt Lyndale probably there 2 most consistent players, think they may finish in the same basket as Moorabbin and Doveton

Looks like a few old heads are back at St Johns, Hammer will probably kick an 50+ in Div 4. Anyone know if they have recruited anyone else? Good chance of them being top 4.

talking about culture im pretty sure every club is recruiting with $$ not cos they have a good culture.

Clayton spending the world on div 4 guys that are average players struggle to play div 3 seniors.

Dandy west paying for quality div 1 players, which is smart and respected but dont say they playing cos great culture or clubrooms.

St Johns players are only going back cos they think easy flag , that isnt a good culture
they did same thing 2 years ago, I watched them few times last year very average.

Lyndale guys heard leaving on ridiculous amount of money which they wouldn't get or shouldn't get in my opinion, heard Stevens over 700 and veraldo over 350 both old fossils.

I dont think there is one div 4 club that can talk about culture , just laughable have these young blokes strutting around like peacocks think there champions playing in the worst division and would struggle to play div 2 or div 3 reserve football

So what you are saying is that Division 4 is so shit that all the players who play in Division 4 are shit and useless.

South Yarra have somehow managed to continue to exist with the hard work of a few at/around the club, and managed a few wins this year
Narre have had mostly a similar team for a couple of years of struggling and then are having some kind of reward now with some wins

Would have to suggest that's some kind of culture, no?

Top 4 seems likely. Along with the two big fish Clayton and Dandy, then Narre and probably Lyndale to round out the 5 if the Ashwood collapse is to be believed (which I'm not 100% convinced by).

Doveton will probably be similar to Yarra last year, or even competing for 5th if Lyndale and Ashwood are really cooked. Their new recruits are decent footballers, regardless of coming from Chaddy who have struggled. They're certainly not the punching bag they were, and they should be well ahead of the bottom 2 (Moorabbin and Yarra)

I agree as why I never mentioned them.

My point is more based around comments guaranteed coming from clubs that are buying players to play div 4 and claiming culture is the reason.

would a club not be creating a better culture if they say no to players wanting ludicrous money? I get your going to have mercenaries at each club and unfortunately money is killing all codes of sport but why would any club in division 4 pay any player over 300 a game is stupid.

I heard dovey eagles paying blokes last few years over 350 per game and for what ?

They'd want to add some outside run, big bodies last year won a lot of ball at the contest but they were flat footed on the rebound or trying stop a turnover.

So if Im reading the history here of the chat group - of how to succeed as a club long term (Hampton & Hallam) to name a few, didn't they put a line in the sand and go back to youth and locals with a top up of older blokes to help them outin the last few years. Then when they have success it is hopefully long term in a higher div. ?
If that's the case Clayton, Dandy and St John are all fighting for 2026 flag and will be at the lower end of the Div 4 ladder in 2 years as they are investing $$ into old blokes to get a sugar rush now.

So teams like Doveton, Ashwood and Moorabbin who from what I can see are looking long term and may not be as hot right now but who knows in a year or two

Who would you rather be a supporter of

I’m still coming to terms with Ashwood playing in Division 4 footy. A club that was regularly finishing in the top four just a few years ago under Rossborough and Decca is now in a very different place, and being coached by Carroll — someone I thought was banned from local footy — only adds to the surprise.

correct mr umpire

I'd go with St John's, Clayton and Dandy because they are investing to win a flag this year and who knows what can happen if they go up a division. For the others who knows if they'll be around in a few years time.

I don’t know who told you that dovey eagles are playing blokes over $350 a game because that’s absolutely rubbish they pay stuff all money out compared to other clubs because they don’t have it and after the president that destroyed the club a few years back they won’t and can’t go spending money they don’t have the club is just getting financially stable again from his mismanagement and lies

I think Narre and Ashwood are the only one going with real Youth, St johns will be interesting first year in southern and it's a whole different playing field now that its local and doesn't have the restrictive rules from Vafa, Dandy is sort of trying to with the Dingley boys a lot of youth and Redleg veterans. Clayton has a lot of veterans with experience in DIV 4 but sustainability will be a lot harder. Granted both Frankston and Hampton who both went youth are now sitting in Div 2
