I did notice Egg was shy in some contests as well, but left him out on the grounds he only played a few games as a fill in. He is not 100% soft either, he can thread his way through traffic without panic kicking at the first sign of oncoming traffic.

Agree [emoji817]. I think the knocks on the Egg are a bit harsh . I can’t remember all a moment when he has done a Miers. Should be no comparison whatsoever.
If he gets traded or delisted , I’ll remember quite a few ..... miraculously.

Really sh$ts me when we bag our own.

For his size, Jack Darling.

This is probably the worst call I have read on bigfooty. If anything he is one of the hardest players on our list that has had this reputation tarnished by a few bad moments in big finals.

For a key forward who is 191cm he cops double teams and contact more than almost any player in our side and bounces back up and keeps going. Incredibly durable hard player.

And this is where supporters get pissed off when the soft accusation is thrown around.

I agree with Cotchins Hair Piece but for a different reason.

My nickname for Darling is "Grassy knoll" throws his head back everytime he gets tackled trying to milk a free and whenever he is in a marking contest and knows he cannot take said mark will always go to ground at the slightest contact again trying to milk a free kick.

Now I don't think Darling is soft in the footballing definition of soft but the way he plays for free kicks is bloody soft.

definitely a geelong player. accentuating contact/diving psychologically deteriorates your winning mentality, it's infested the entire club. maybe not soft in the traditional sense you're thinking but i can't think of anything softer than playing the umpire over the man or the ball

So what you are saying is Chris Sook is a soft coach then....I like it. 😁

Agree with the Darling call, albeit a different way

I have no doubt he would go back with the flight and put his head over the ball when it's his turn.

But there are some contests, maybe 1 or 2 every 100, where instead of imposing himself physically and throwing his weight around he just tries to play for the free or try and finesse it.

Jack Lonie.

Jack Lonie.

Can’t say I’ve personally seen him shirk contact, have seen him get cleaned up due to his small stature a few times though.

He does duck for free kicks however, probably the only bloke on our team that does it and it gives me the shits. I consider that soft.

Obviously I don't watch him as closely as you but I watch a lot of games and every time I've watched him he ducks and falls over very easily for frees.

I was just wondering what the main premise of “soft” was for you with Lonie. When I think of soft I first think of guys who don’t like contact and like to play bruise free, which I wouldn’t say applies to Lonie.

But secondly I think of ducking and flopping for free kicks is soft and he’s definitely a repeat offender of that, so I agree with you.

Aaron Hall

Everytime Pickett attempts to take an overhead mark his head retracts into his body like a turtle

Its weird because he in other areas goes really hard. Generally looks for contact and often bumps instead of tackling. Maybe he has been cleaned up backing into a pack before? Lacking confidence? There's that mark of his running back with the flight in the VFL which is as brave as you'll see.

Hannebery really? I can name at least 5 saints players who I think are actually soft, unlike Hannebery, and since your footy IQ is so low let me help you out by providing them; Bradley Hill, Jack Billings, Seb Ross, Jack Lonie and Nicholas Coffield.

Agree on all this except Coffield.
