There could be a possibility something came bout during the tour. Club doctor/Burgess saw something in the medical they not comfortable with?

Maybe Nicks didn't like him ....lol

You would think Tom Morris would rather report we missed out rather than "walk away".

Media love sinking the boots into us.
He did roll up in his Traccy Daccs!

The reality is, the Suns had more in their trade arsenal than we did. Its pretty simple, yet seemingly difficult a normally well reasoned poster such as yourself to understand.

Gold Coast having more to trade with is not a last minute surprise.

Its not necessarily the trade capital as such, its whether we were willing to part with the capital we have.

So we were aware of the cost being too high, decided to meet him anyway, then pulled out of the deal afterwards?

Essentially you are saying we acted unprofessionally and wasted Petracca's time.

That's less believable than the simple reality Petracca actively chose Gold Coast and we had no choice in the matter

You're really willing to die on this hill aren't you?

Who gives a rats tossbag that Twomey (of all people) said we pulled out.
He has chosen the Suns, thats where the conversation starts and ends.

We'll know if the price was ridiculous or not once the Suns pay it. But they're in the Millionaires Club and we're not when it comes draft picks this year with 6, 13, 16 and 32 while we have 14 and 42.

They can accomplish nabbing both Petracca and using draft capital, it's one of the other (and potentially wiping out next year's picks) for us.

calm down man. lots of assumptions being made to suit your narrative. The club obviously went and started conversations with Melbourne after the meeting. Why would they before?

You do realise in 2023 he was keen on here and 2024 Geelong

Both towns where media scrutiny is high

Is no concern

We will have our hat in the ring and be a very good chance

Yes, I'm aware of the media reports.

I understand the attraction, the discount, the position of need etc. Jusy dont think Adelaide the town and Oliver are a good fit.

If the club decided to go that way and Oliver agreed, it would support this idea that we backed out of the Petracca deal.

We tried it didnt work out. Moving on!

In a trade and list sense we never really stood a chance. GC are set up so that they have no need for their early picks. GC are now going to be able to bring in Trac, Uwland and Patterson for 7, Flanders and a handful of 3rd rounders they use to match bids.

Why is it an idea if we did? At no stage have I seen a report that specifically says Adelaide notified the media to say they pulled out the deal. If Victorian media are running with it, its 100% come from Petraccas camp.

Gold Coast being involved may or may not have come as a surprise depending on how long weve been chasing him.

I know its hard, but I dont subscribe to this theory that the club does everything wrong all of the time.

Did Cal delete the tweet? Could see it on poster's replies, but not the original? Could just be me...

Getting real worried about Clarry and if he nominates elsewhere, what else are we doing this period?
Pick 14 will do nothing.
If we can’t get any A grader in the trade period, surely pick 14 with F1 for Richmond pick 3 to obtain Sharp?

now we can go back to focusing on who we draft with our first round pick this year. who is the best big body midfielder that will be there around the pick 20?

Obviously have to wait and judge the totality of our trade/draft period once it's done. But wonder what our goal is. Ah Chee is obviously a good start, means we are atleast partially stronger going into next year on paper - tick.

Are we targeting a player in the draft with our first pick? Or do we plan to trade up/down? Is there some other fringe trade target we might nab later in the trade period? Wonder if they think we haven't hit the draft enough and want to fill some holes for 2-3 years down the line?
